APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY: May 1-7-2023, Speech, Lesson 16, Prepared Assignment.
Address (5 min.): w21.05 17-18 pars. 11-15. Title: Let's be positive even if people don't want to listen to us (th lec. 16).It is common to find people who do not want to hear our message. So instead of getting upset, disappointed or sad, let's rather analyze why they have that attitude.
Maybe it's because they think they don't need to learn about God or the Bible, because they don't believe in God because of all the suffering in the world, or because they see that religious leaders don't practice what they preach.
Perhaps it is also because they are very focused on their jobs, family, or their problems. In short, the reasons why many people do not realize that the Bible can help them are diverse. But as for us, how can we maintain a positive attitude when so many people do not see the importance of the message we carry?
Brothers and friends who visit us, the Bible gives us the keys. Please join me in reading Philippians 2:4, to see the first one. Yes they do, it says there:
LET'S READ PHILIPPIANS 2:4.
While looking not only for their own interests, but also for those of others. Now, how do we apply this text? When the person does not reject, if we continue to maintain a good attitude and with our gestures we show that we are interested in them. In this way, perhaps she will forget what we have told her about, but she will never forget our interest in her.
Tailoring our message to make it more practical and engaging is another way to show that we're keeping a positive attitude. How do we do it? Being very observant. For example, if we see that there are several locks or padlocks on the doors, we can talk to the person about crime and insecurity in the world, and then we will explain with the Bible that these problems will disappear forever. in this way, we will try to make the person understand how the Bible can help him.
Another key in this regard is given to us by Proverbs 27:17. Please join me with the reading. If they do, it says there:
LET'S READ PROVERBS 27:17.
As iron sharpens iron, so a man makes his friend better.
To better understand this verse, we will illustrate it with the story of Brother Shawn, who lives in a rural area where most people are happy with their religion. Let's see that he helped this brother not to get discouraged.
Shawn says that whenever possible he went to preach accompanied, because in this way he took advantage of the time to talk about how he could improve his way of teaching. For example, he and his preaching partner would review the conversation they had with the person and then discuss what they could say the next time someone said the same thing. In this way, one made the other better, as the Proverb says.
Let us now analyze one more key. Ask Jehovah for help. Let's see what Psalm 127:1 says. Please accompany me with the reading if you have it there it says:
LET'S READ PSALM 127:1.
Unless Jehovah builds the house, it is of no use for the builders to work hard on it. Unless Jehovah protects the city, it is of no use for the guard to stay awake.
From there, when we go out to preach, we pray to Jehovah to guide us, because without his help from his powerful Holy Spirit, we could not do anything.
On the other hand, the text of Luke 11:13 shows that even if we have deficiencies in terms of abilities or skills for service, if we ask Jehovah for help in prayer, he will give us what we need through his Holy Spirit. Please join me in reading Luke 11:13 it says like this:
LET'S READ LUKE 11:13.
Therefore, if you, even though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, with much more reason the Father in heaven will give holy spirit to those who ask him!
So let's take advantage of this gift brothers. Let us ask Jehovah to help us find anyone who has the right attitude and wants to listen. After this, let's do our part and preach to as many people as we can. And above all, let's continue to be positive even if no one wants to listen to us.
