APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, Week of May 1-7, 2023, Use the Discussion Ideas topic, Lesson 18, Prepared Assignment.

APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, May 1-7-2023, First Conversation, Lesson 18, Prepared Assignment.

First conversation (3 min.): Use the theme of ideas for conversation (th lesson 18).

Publisher: Good morning. I am Alberto, a neighbor of the community, how is he? What is his name?

Helper: Good morning, I'm Israel. You are a Jehovah's Witness, right?

Publisher: That's right, do you usually talk to Jehovah's Witnesses when they knock on your door?

Assistant: Well, the truth is that no, for one thing or another I usually can't attend to you.

Publisher: We thank you for your honesty, and for this reason, I will tell you that I will be very brief, I will not take more than 3 minutes.

Helper: Well... well, if that's the case, today I can make an exception...

Publisher: Great, I'm glad, because I want to talk about this very thing... perhaps one of the reasons why you don't usually attend to us is because you are not interested since we are talking about the Bible, what is the Bible for you?

Helper: Well, since we're speaking honestly, the Bible for me personally doesn't give me anything in life.

Publisher: I understand you, can I also ask you a very sincere and direct question?

Helper: Sure, tell me...

Publisher: How many times have you read the Bible? But, completely, from the beginning to the end... I don't mean going to mass on Sundays with our parents at that time, or things like that... but you, reading it personally in its entirety...

Assistant: Complete? From start to finish? Never.

Publisher: Well, it's impossible for it to contribute anything to your life, don't you think? Can I read you a biblical text? It's Romans 15:4…or maybe you want to read it?

Helper: Ok, I'll read it, since you're right in what you're arguing... let's see... it says: "Because all the things that were previously written were written for our teaching, so that through our endurance and the consolation of the Scriptures let's hope."

Publisher: Thank you very much for reading this text, what do you think?

Assistant: I think that it may be true, that there could be written things that are for our teaching, and that perhaps they can even help me, although I don't know how...

Publisher: You are young, do you remember when you were studying formal education?

Helper: Yes, I remember it like it was yesterday… In fact, I went to university not long ago…

Publisher: Great, so let me give you an example... sometime when preparing for a subject you didn't feel lost because you didn't know exactly what to study in order to pass the exam since the subject was very extensive...

Assistant: Absolutely right, luckily the teacher, sometimes, because not always, was there and when you asked him he told you more or less what book to read...

Publisher: And you approved. How can we pass in life? I mean, that things go better for us, that we don't have so many problems... which guide do you think is the best? There are many self-help books, for example, but the Bible is more than that...

Helper: I'm not going to lie to you, I'm not denying you're right, in fact, you may not be wrong, but to be honest, as we've been since the beginning of the conversation, I don't see myself reading the Bible from beginning to end...

Publisher: Don't worry, it's not my purpose either, I just liked that we reasoned it out... look at the previously read text, that to have hope it's not just enough to read the Bible but we have to do our part... and for that see if it is worth spending time studying the Bible, what if the next day we see in a brief moment like this what are the promises that the Bible makes us and that give us hope...

Assistant: Well, look, I don't mind talking to you about it again the next day, and we'll see...

Publisher: Great Israel, see you next Saturday around the same time…
