Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022
Sunday November 6
I will remember the works of Jah; I will remember your wonderful deeds long ago (Ps. 77:11).
Of all the living beings on the planet, only humans have the ability to draw moral lessons from the experiences of the past. Remembering and analyzing these experiences helps us adopt higher moral values and correct our way of thinking and acting (1 Cor. 6:9-11; Col. 3:9, 10). In fact, we can train our conscience to know right from wrong (Heb. 5:14). We can learn to express love, compassion, and mercy, as well as develop a balanced sense of justice. One way to show that we appreciate the gift of memory is by trying to remember all the times that Jehovah has helped and comforted us. This will strengthen our confidence that he will help us again in the future (Ps. 77:12; 78:4, 7). Another way to show that we appreciate that gift is by remembering all the good that other people do us and thanking them. Researchers have found that grateful people are generally happier. w20.05 23, 24 paras. 12, 13
Why can we say that our brain is an engineering marvel?
The human brain is an engineering marvel. When we were in our mother's womb, our brains were formed according to a predefined design. And thousands of new brain cells appeared every minute! Researchers estimate that the adult brain has about 100 billion neurons, which are a special type of cell. These are perfectly packed in an organ that weighs only 1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds). Let's look at some of the amazing faculties that our brain possesses.
What convinces you that our ability to speak is a gift from God?
Our ability to speak is a true miracle. Let's think for a moment about everything that happens in our body when we speak. To utter a single word, the brain has to coordinate the movements of about a hundred muscles in the tongue, throat, lips, jaw, and chest. All of these muscles have to move in a specific order for words to be understood. As for our ability to speak languages, a study published in 2019 revealed that newborns can already distinguish single words. This discovery confirms what many researchers believe: that we are born with the ability to identify and learn languages. Without a doubt, our ability to speak is a gift from God (Ex. 4:11).
How can we show that we appreciate the ability to speak?
One way to show that we appreciate the ability to speak is to use it to explain to those who believe in evolution why we believe that God created all things (Ps. 9:1; 1 Pet. 3:15). Those who promote the teaching of evolution want us to believe that the Earth and life are not by design. We can use the Bible and some ideas in this article to defend our heavenly Father and explain to those who want to listen why we are convinced that Jehovah is the Creator of heaven and earth (Ps. 102:25; Isa. 40:25 , 26).
What other reason do we have to say that our brain is amazing?
Our memory is amazing. In the past, a scientist concluded that the human brain is capable of remembering information that could fit in 20 million books. But nowadays it is believed that our memory can store much more information. Also, thanks to her, we have a special ability. Let's see what it is.
