Congregation Book Study, November 14-20, 2022, Lesson 27, points 1 to 5, Answers.
Congregation Bible study (30 min.): lff lesson 27.
1. How does Jesus' death help us now?
Well, thanks to the death of Jesus and we sincerely repent of our sins, because otherwise we would have no hope, since we would be condemned to continue suffering the consequences of sin.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
In 1 Peter 3:18. He mentions that Christ died once for all for sins, a just man for an unjust man leading you to God, in this way thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus, helps us to be forgiven our sins by Jehovah, and therefore gives us the opportunity to become friends of our creator.
2. How will Jesus' death help us in the future?
It will help us a lot since thanks to it, all the negative effects of what the first man, Adam, did will be annulled. That is, we can live forever on earth made a paradise.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
Thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus, all of us who show faith in him will have the opportunity in the future to live forever and we say this, because we are sure that Jehovah will eliminate all the negative effects that Adam's disobedience entails.
LET'S DEEPER INTO THE SUBJECT
Let's better understand why Jesus gave his life and see how this helps you.
3. The death of Jesus frees us from sin and death
What opportunity did Adam lose when he disobeyed God?
Adam lost the possibility of living forever since he was now imperfect and would die
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
In the video we can see how Jehovah, when he created the first human couple Adam and Eve, created them perfect, without any sin, but when Adam decided to disobey Jehovah, he lost the opportunity to live forever in the paradise established on earth, and as a consequence his disobedience both he and his descendants inherited sin and death.
The Bible explains that God created the first man Adam perfect and free from sin, God gave Adam a simple rule, he could eat from all the trees in the Garden of Eden except one. That tree represented the right that God has to decide what is right and what is wrong, as long as Adam obeyed Jehovah he would have the opportunity to live forever in paradise.
Adam did not value the good things that God had done for him and decided to disobey, as a result he lost the possibility of living forever. That decision did not affect only him, but all his descendants, since they inherited sin and, as a consequence, death. Humans could not free themselves from sin and death, they needed someone to rescue them, for that reason Jehovah made a miracle so that one of his perfect spiritual children was born on Earth as a human and in this way rescue us from sin and death.
Read Romans 5:12 and discuss the following:
What does Adam's sin have to do with you?
As all human beings are descendants of Adam, we have inherited his imperfection, therefore we are also sinners since we are born and therefore we die.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Because he was the first man on earth and all his offspring sinned, he inherited sin and death. Consequently, all human beings without exception sin and die.
Read John 3:16 and discuss the following:
Why did Jehovah send his Son to earth?
He sent his son as a token of love to the descendants of Adam, so that those who show faith in him will not be destroyed, but have eternal life as mentioned in John 3:16.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
Because Jehovah is so loving that he gave us another opportunity for humanity, because by sending Jesus to Earth and having him sacrifice himself we can be forgiven for our sins and have the opportunity to put on Jesus and our creator Jehovah to be able to live forever on earth made a paradise, just as Jehovah from the beginning had that purpose.
4. The death of Jesus can benefit the whole world
How is it possible that the death of one man benefits the whole world?
It is possible because when Adam sinned against God he became a sinner and all his descendants inherited it. So when Jesus died instead, he paid that outstanding debt, and in doing so gave all of Adam's descendants back the hope of living forever.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Thanks to what Jesus did with his sacrifice, all human beings have a new opportunity that benefits us for the future.
In the video a beautiful illustration is shown where the director of a factory is mentioned who steals money from the company and leaves it sunk in debt, as a consequence the factory has to close, the workers lose their jobs and cannot pay their bills, many people They suffer because of one man. Now let's imagine that a good and generous man feels sorry for all those people and they decide to pay the debt to open the company again, by paying that debt he returns Hope to all the employees and their families. Adam is like that corrupt director when he rebelled against God he contracted a very big debt, sin, and all his children inherited it. Jesus is like the generous man when he gave his perfect human life paid the debt of sin and gave us all back the hope of being able to live forever.
Read 1 Timothy 2:5, 6 and discuss the following:
Adam was a perfect man, and when he sinned, he led mankind into sin and death. Jesus was also a perfect man. What did he do to pay a "matching ransom"?
What Jesus did to pay a corresponding ransom was to give his life in favor of humanity. Jesus was a perfect man just like Adam, but unlike him, Jesus was always obedient, so he was able to give his life as a ransom in exchange for many people.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
Because in order to pay a corresponding debt, a perfect man is needed, since Adam had been, only with the death of Jesus a perfect man and without sin, could the debt left by Adam by disobeying Jehovah be settled.
5. The ransom is Jehovah's gift to you
What words of the apostle Paul indicate that he viewed the ransom as a personal gift?
He saw the rescue as a personal gift because he speaks in the first person and says the life that I now live in this body I live by faith in the son of God in my love and he gave himself for me.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
In Galatians 2:20 we see how the apostle Paul recognized that the life he lived was thanks to his sacrifice that Jesus had made giving us his life for him, because he loved him, in this way the Apostle saw the ransom as a personal gift that had thanks to Jesus.
How do you feel when you think about what Jehovah and Jesus did for you?
Immensely grateful because when imagining everything that Jesus suffered, until his death and everything that Jehovah had to feel when seeing his son suffer in such a way, I feel grateful and privileged to see the love and the opportunity that they gave us beings to all human beings.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
Personally, I feel grateful because just thinking about the pain that Jehovah had felt when seeing his son go through all this suffering and Jesus endure everything they did to him just for us and that way having a new opportunity is a great show of love towards us, for that we must be grateful and that we have put faith in what they did for humanity.
WHAT SOME ASK: "How is it possible that the death of one man saves the whole world?"
What would you answer?
Just as sin and death entered the world through one man, so the death of one man could save us all.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
As we have seen, in the same way that Adam's sin negatively affected all of humanity, the death of Jesus, a perfect and obedient man, would pay the debt that Adam left due to his disobedience and in this way rescue all of humanity from the consequences negatives that Adam left with his disobedience.
ABSTRACT
Because of Jesus' death, Jehovah forgives our sins and gives us the chance to live forever.
Review
Why did Jesus die?
To save them all from sin and death.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
To pay a ransom for all human beings and thus be forgiven of our sins and have a new opportunity to live forever.
In what way was Jesus' perfect human life a “corresponding ransom”?
Well, because what had been lost was a perfect human life, so another perfect human life was needed as a corresponding ransom, and that is where Jesus came in.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
Why Jesus had a perfect sinless life and to pay off Adam's debt a perfect sinless man was needed for such ransom.
How does the death of Jesus benefit you?
Thanks to the death of Jesus I have the opportunity to have my sins forgiven and thus live forever.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
And everything will depend on the faith that we put in the rescue and the love that we have for Jehovah, since he gave his son for us so that we can live forever in the near future.
