DAILY TEXT, Today Wednesday, October 5. Keep walking in union with the Lord, being rooted in him, built on him, and established in the faith (Col. 2:6, 7).

Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

Wednesday, October 5

Keep walking in union with the Lord, being rooted in him, built on him, and established in the faith (Col. 2:6, 7).

We must reject what apostates say. Ever since the Christian congregation was formed, the Devil has used many individuals to plant doubts in the minds of God's faithful servants. For this reason, we must know how to distinguish between a truth and a lie. Our enemies can use the Internet and social media to try to weaken our trust in Jehovah and our love for our brothers. Let us reject these lies, for they come from Satan (1 John 4:1, 6; Rev. 12:9). If we want to resist the Devil's attacks, we must strengthen our trust in Jesus and his role in God's purpose. We must also trust in the faithful and wise slave, the only channel that Jehovah uses today to direct his organization (Matt. 24: 45-47). With the regular study of the Word of God, that confidence will be strengthened and our faith will become like a tree with deep roots. The apostle Paul mentioned this idea when he wrote the words of today's text. w20.07 23, 24 paras. 11, 12.

What do we Christians know, and why?

13 We know the world is going to hate us (1 John 3:13). John reminds us that “the whole world is under the power of the Evil One” (1 John 5:19). The end of this system is getting closer, so Satan is getting more and more furious (Rev. 12:12). He not only attacks us by subtle means, such as immorality and apostate lies, but he also uses force. He knows that his time is short, so he tries more and more to stop the preaching or destroy our faith. He does not surprise us, then, that in some countries he restricts or even prohibits our work. Still, our brothers in those places continue to hold on. They show that no matter what the Devil does to us, we can stay true.

HOW TO HELP EACH OTHER FOLLOW IN THE TRUTH

What is one way to help the brothers to follow in the truth?

We can help the brothers to continue in the truth by being compassionate (1 John 3:10, 11, 16-18). We are to love one another through thick and thin. For example, do we know a sibling who has lost a loved one and needs comfort or some kind of help? Have we heard that brothers need help to rebuild their Kingdom Halls or homes due to a natural disaster? The true love and compassion for our brothers will be shown above all with actions, not just with words.

What should we do, according to 1 John 4:7, 8?

When we show love to one another, we imitate our loving heavenly Father (read 1 John 4:7, 8). An important way to show love is by forgiving others. For example, if someone hurts us, love will lead us to forgive him and forget what he did (Col. 3:13). Let's see what happened to a brother named Aldo. He felt very offended when he heard that a brother whom he respected made a hurtful comment about people from his culture. Aldo says: “I asked Jehovah over and over again to help me not to look badly on this brother.” But he did something else: he invited him out to preach. So, he explained to her how he felt. He recounts, “When he understood how he made me feel about his hurtful comment, he apologized. From the tone of his voice I could tell he was sorry from the bottom of his heart. We made peace and forgot what happened."

What should we resolve?

The apostle John loved his brothers very much and was interested in their spiritual well-being. That sentiment is clearly reflected in the advice he gave in the three letters he wrote out of inspiration. What encouragement to know that the men and women who will go to heaven to rule with Christ have the same kind of feelings that John had (1 John 2:27). Let's take seriously the advice we have discussed. Let us resolve to walk in the truth and to obey Jehovah in all that we do. Let us study his Word and trust it. Let us strengthen our faith in Jesus. Let us reject human ideas and what apostates say. Let us fight against the temptation to lead a double life and give in to sin. Let us be guided by Jehovah's high moral standards. And let us help our brothers to stay strong by forgiving those who offend us and helping those in need. So no matter what battles we have to fight, we will continue to walk in the truth.
