TREASURES FROM GOD'S WORD, April 6-12, 2026, Let us listen to the one instructed by God, Prepared Speech.

Let us listen to the one who was instructed by God (10 mins.)

We've all had to learn from someone at some point. But imagine having the privilege of learning from a true expert: someone who not only knows the theory but has mastered their craft. Usually, the best teachers were once the best students.

Today we will reflect on a unique and unparalleled relationship in the entire universe: that of a perfect Teacher with his most precious student. We are referring to Jehovah, the Grand Instructor, and his firstborn Son, Jesus. The teaching that Jesus received in heaven, before coming to Earth, not only prepared him to accomplish the work of saving mankind, but also offers us a clear example of how we can allow ourselves to be taught by God today.

Before coming to Earth, Jesus was instructed by Jehovah (Is 50:4; kr 182 par. 5).

In due time, Jehovah carefully prepared his Son for the work he would do on earth. Before he was born as a man, God’s firstborn Son was already being instructed by Jehovah, his Grand Instructor.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 50:4

“The Sovereign Lord Jehovah has given me the tongue of the instructed, so that I may know how to answer the weary with appropriate words. He awakens me morning by morning; he awakens my ear to listen as those who receive instruction.”

This verse offers us a valuable picture of this special relationship. It tells us that Jehovah would wake his Son “morning by morning” to teach him new things. This makes us think of a teacher who arrives early each day at school to guide his student, teaching him not only what to say, but also how to communicate his message.

In that “heavenly school,” Jesus received a thorough education: Jehovah taught him what to preach, how to speak, and how to instruct others. John 12:49 confirms this by stating that Jesus did not speak on his own initiative but followed his Father’s instructions precisely.

This preparation was so thorough that, upon coming to earth, Jesus was not only able to fulfill his ministry but was also equipped to teach his disciples how to do the same. His success on earth was a result of this divine training, and it reminds us that when we follow Jehovah’s guidance, we too can be effective in our ministry.

Jesus learned with great eagerness (Is 50:5; cf 133 par. 13).

But it wasn't just his preparation that distinguished Jesus; it was also his attitude.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 50:4-6

“The Sovereign Lord Jehovah has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious. I did not turn away.”

This text shows us that even before he was born as a man, Jesus had a great desire to learn. Jehovah taught him what it would mean to be the Messiah, including all the suffering he would have to endure. However, Jesus did not become discouraged or back down; on the contrary, his desire to learn and to do his Father's will only grew stronger.

When he came to earth and became an adult, Jesus continued to demonstrate that love for learning and for participating in worship. The Bible tells us that he faithfully attended the temple and the synagogue (Luke 4:16; 19:47). He sets a clear example for us: To keep our love for Jehovah alive and strong, we should regularly attend Christian meetings.

In them we not only worship Jehovah, but we also learn to know and love him more deeply. Jesus' desire to learn never diminished, and that inspires us to imitate his zeal for truth and worship.

Those who fear Jehovah listen to the voice of his servant, Jesus (Is 50:10; Jn 10:27).

Today, Jesus’ teachings remain relevant. He faithfully attended the temple and the synagogues. We can follow his example by attending Christian meetings, because that is where Jehovah continues to teach us.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 50:10

“Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? Who has walked in deep darkness, with no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.”

This text reminds us that those who fear Jehovah listen to the voice of his servant. John 10:27 reinforces this idea by saying that “Jesus’ sheep hear his voice.” Jesus was instructed by God before he came to earth, and his life was a perfect example of how to obey and teach faithfully.

Listening to Jesus means following his example and paying attention to the teachings he left us. It is not just about learning facts or stories; it is about allowing his instruction to transform our lives and strengthen our relationship with Jehovah.

Just as Jesus was a diligent student, we too should be humble and attentive learners. The way Jesus taught and lived shows us that learning from God is a continuous and enriching process.

In the picture in our activity guide, we can see Jesus teaching a crowd near the sea. This shows us that Jesus did not keep what he learned to himself, but used the training he received from Jehovah to help others and, moreover, to teach his disciples how to teach others.

Conclusion

In summary, before coming to earth, Jesus was carefully instructed by Jehovah. His desire to learn never diminished, and he set a shining example for us of how to listen, learn, and teach. Isaiah 50:10 and John 10:27 remind us that those who fear Jehovah listen to his servant, and that includes paying attention to Jesus’ teachings.

Let us follow his example: let us actively participate in worship, maintain our desire to learn, and put what we learn into practice. In this way, we can draw closer to Jehovah and show that we truly listen to “the one instructed by God.”
