“He is the stability of your times” (10 mins.)
You don't need to be a news expert to realize that we live in a world that seems to have lost its way.
We often hear people say that the world is crazy or that peace is no longer attainable. Political instability, sudden changes in laws, economic insecurity, and widely divided opinions in society create an atmosphere of constant tension.
When we go through trials, let us turn to Jehovah for stability (Is 33:6a; w24.01 22 pars. 7, 8).
It's easy to feel like a small boat in the middle of a perfect storm. The waves of anxiety and uncertainty crash over us with such force that we sometimes question whether we can keep our balance.
LET'S READ ISAIAH 33:6a
“He is the stability of your times; a great salvation.”
What comforting words! Jehovah does not say that he will immediately eliminate the storm, but that he will be our stability. To understand this better, let us use a technical illustration. Large modern ships, such as cruise ships or cargo vessels, are equipped with devices called fin stabilizers. These are like wings that extend underwater on either side of the hull.
When the sea becomes rough and the waves try to tilt the boat from side to side, these stabilizers counteract that movement. Thanks to them, the rocking becomes much smoother, and passengers can walk safely and comfortably, even if there's a storm outside.
But there's a crucial detail: these systems work much better if the ship is moving. If the ship comes to a complete stop in the middle of a storm, the stabilizers lose much of their effectiveness.
Spiritually, the lesson is clear. If we want Jehovah to give us stability, we have to keep moving. And what does this mean? It means remaining faithful, not stopping our spiritual routine.
Let us ask him for the wisdom and knowledge we need to make good decisions (Is 33:6b; w21.02 29 pars. 10, 11).
So, what keeps us moving?
LET'S READ ISAIAH 33:6b
“Wisdom, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord—that is his treasure.”
Notice that the Bible calls wisdom a treasure. In the midst of a trial, what we need most is not necessarily for the problem to disappear, but the wisdom to know how to handle it without losing our joy. How do we obtain that wisdom?
First, through constant prayer. The disciple James reminded us that we should ask God for wisdom. And notice this: Jehovah is not bothered or angry when we ask him for help again and again. On the contrary, like a loving father who sees his frightened child, he gives it to us generously. He knows you are suffering, he is aware of your trial, and he has compassion on you.
Second, we gain wisdom through in-depth study. Jehovah speaks to us through his Word and publications, but it is not enough to skim; we must apply the counsel. When we are peaceful, reasonable, and merciful, we are applying God’s wisdom, and that makes us more resilient to emotional storms.
If we trust in Jehovah, we will see the fulfillment of Isaiah 33:24 (ip-1 352, 355 pars. 21, 22).
The stability that Jehovah gives us today is just a foretaste of what is to come. We, Jehovah’s servants, have already experienced spiritual healing. We have been freed from false teachings that cause fear and anxiety, such as the Trinity or hellfire. Following the Bible’s moral counsel protects us from sickness and a wounded conscience.
LET'S READ ISAIAH 33:24
“And no inhabitant will say, ‘I am sick.’ The people who live in this land will be forgiven for their sin.”
This prophecy will have a marvelous, literal fulfillment. Imagine the new world shortly after Armageddon. Satan's system, with all its instability, will have vanished under the Kingdom of Christ. Human beings will experience total healing. The miracles of Jesus—healing the blind, making the lame walk, calming storms—will be repeated on a global scale.
Illustration
In the picture, we see a sister who, despite her problems, is studying with her tablet and meditating. She is on the move. By focusing her mind on God’s promises, she is allowing Jehovah’s stabilizers—his holy spirit and his peace—to do their work.
Conclusion
How exciting it is to envision that future! All the survivors of the great tribulation will participate in the most magnificent work in history: transforming this planet into a paradise where harmony and, above all, eternal stability will reign.
Until we reach that safe harbor, don't let the waves stop you. If you feel lonely, frustrated, or angry about life's circumstances, remember Luis's wife. Remember that Jehovah is your stabilizer. Keep moving forward in God's service. Keep seeking the treasure of wisdom through prayer and study.
If you do this, you will not only stay afloat, but you will successfully navigate to the new world.
