APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, October 6-12, 2025, Start Conversations: INFORMAL PREACHING. (Making Disciples: A Work of Love, Lesson 1, point 3). Prepared Assignment.
Start Conversations (2 min.) INFORMAL PREACHING. Use one of the “Bible Truths We Love to Teach” from Appendix A of the booklet A Labor of Love (LMD Lesson 1, point 3).
Setting: The publisher meets an acquaintance at a coffee shop, who expresses his concern about family and marital problems. The publisher then shares a Bible-based message of hope, mentioning the role of husband and wife in marriage and emphasizing love, respect, and mutual responsibility.
Publisher: I'm so glad to see you here at the cafeteria.
Assistant: I'm glad to see you too. Today is my day off. I'll take advantage of it to visit my sister, who's a little sick.
Publisher: Illness never ends, but the day will come when we will all be perfectly healthy and there will be no more suffering. Isn't that exciting?
Assistant: Yes, of course, I think it's wonderful. But I'm more concerned about the family aspect. We see broken families and broken marriages everywhere. The neighbors were recently commenting on a couple on the block who had been married for many years and ended up separated. That's very worrying. I've been asking myself: What do I have to do to make my marriage work well?
Publisher: I'd like to show you what the Bible says about what is expected of husbands and wives. In Ephesians 5:33, it says:
“However, each of you should love his wife as he loves himself. In turn, the wife should have deep respect for her husband.”
Therefore, both husband and wife should treat each other with love and respect. They should meet each other's needs with affection and be faithful in every way. If they have children, both have the responsibility to raise them. Communication and love are also fundamental. And of course, they should seek God's guidance and follow His principles to live a full and happy life.
Assistant: Yes, I think you're right.
Publisher: I'd like to continue talking with you. Would you like to meet again and continue the conversation?
Assistant: Yes, of course I would like to.
