TREASURES FROM GOD'S WORD: November 18-24, 2024, “Give thanks to Jehovah, for he is good.” Prepared Talk.

“Give thanks to Jehovah for he is good” (10 mins.).

There are many reasons to thank Jehovah because he is good and his mercy is eternal. In every moment of our life we find countless reasons to thank him for his unconditional love. In the Bible there are examples that show us the goodness and mercy of our father. One of them is the liberation of the Israelites in Babylon, this is an event that reminds us of his power and love.

Let us imagine how the Israelites felt in Babylon. The Babylonians ridiculed them, and of course it was a period of great suffering and despair. They mourned the destruction of Jerusalem, which was their main reason for being happy. However, just as Jehovah predicted, King Cyrus of Persia conquered Babylon and freed them. Just as he freed the Israelites, Jehovah has rescued us from Satan's world. Please read Colossians chapter 1:13,14. If you found it, please accompany me with the reading, it says like this.

LET'S READ COLOSSIANS 1:13,14.

He rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 through whom we have a ransom for our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.

As we noticed, Jehovah in his love and mercy sent his son Jesus Christ to die for our sins and give us eternal life. This is something that fills us with hope, we are so grateful to Jehovah that we want to praise him in the congregation. Have you ever wondered why the congregation is so special? It is not just a place where we meet to socialize or share common interests, it is much more than that, it is a sacred space where we meet to worship and honor our creator. In the book of Psalms we find beautiful invitations to praise Jehovah in the congregation, let's read Psalm chapter 107:31,32.

LET'S READ PSALM 107:31,32.

Let the people give thanks to Jehovah for his loyal love and for his wonderful works for the sons of men.a 32 Let them magnify him among the assembled people,b let them praise him in the council of the elders.

These words remind us that our gratitude should be expressed in praise. It is not only a duty, but a privilege that we have as children of God. For Christians, the congregation is a refuge where we find peace, love and guidance.

As servants of God, it is important to have a grateful heart. We must stop and think about how Jehovah has shown us his love. So it is crucial to stop and reflect on all the things that Jehovah has done for us. In the book of Psalms we find inspiration to cultivate a grateful heart in Psalm 107:43, we read the following.

LET'S READ PSALM 107:43.

He who is wise will keep these things in mind and will consider with interest Jehovah's acts of loyal love.

This verse invites wise people to reflect on the wonders of Jehovah and the blessings we have received. Let us read Psalm 40:5, it says the following.

LET'S READ PSALM 40:5.

How many things you have done, O Lord my God! Many are your wonderful works and your thoughts for us. No one can compare with you. If I were to try to tell them and speak of them, they would be too many, more than I can count.

This text makes it clear to us that we should reflect on the blessings we have received and express gratitude to our heavenly Father for all his wonders. Let us think about all the times that Jehovah has been with us in all the moments that he has given us strength and comfort, just like the Psalmist, we were impressed by the blessings we received.

Now let's analyze the image in our activity guide on the top left. We see a group of brothers and sisters praising Jehovah through song. Their faces reflect the joy and gratitude they feel when praising Jehovah, reminding us of the exhortation in Psalm 107:31 and 32. When we gather together and sing together, we show Jehovah our gratitude for everything he has done for us.

On the bottom left we see a brother actively participating in the congregation, he is expressing his thoughts in a comment during a meeting. This reminds us that our expressions in the congregation are a way of thanking and magnifying Jehovah before others, demonstrating how much we value our rescue and forgiveness as mentioned in Colossians 1:13,14.

Finally, in the image on the right we see two sisters sharing the good news with a woman in her home. This act of preaching is not only a commandment but also an opportunity to show our gratitude to Jehovah by telling others about his loyal love and kindness. We follow the advice of Psalm 107:2.

These scenes remind us that our gratitude to Jehovah should not be limited to our words or thoughts, but is reflected in our actions when we praise him in the congregation, actively participate in it, and preach the good news to others. In this way, we will be imitating the psalmist, who wisely said, “Give thanks to Jehovah, for he is good; his loyal love endures forever.” Jehovah deserves all our gratitude and praise, not only today, but forever.

We understand that singing is part of our worship, that is why we will not be absent at that time of the meeting, let us remember that singing is a fundamental part of our worship, it is a very important way to show Jehovah our love and gratitude, the second way is when we comment at the meetings.

The comments we give are part of our sacrifice of praise and no one can offer that sacrifice for us. The third way is to preach the good news, when we share with people about His wonderful hopes, make His name known and speak lovingly of Him, we are praising Him.

In conclusion, my dear brothers, let us thank Jehovah because he is good and generous. He has given us many gifts: life, the ability to think and communicate, health, a place to live, family, friends. Our father has guided us in times of trouble and has given us hope in times of challenge. Therefore, let us praise Jehovah daily with all our hearts. Let us recognize his goodness and mercy, and above all, let us never stop thanking Jehovah for being such a wonderful friend.
