TREASURES FROM GOD'S WORD: Week June 24 to 30, 2024, God is on your side, Prepared Speech.

TREASURES FROM GOD'S WORD: June 24-30, 2024, God is on your side, Prepared Speech.

God is on your side (10 mins.)

Have you heard the expression: "If God is on our side, who can be against us?" Although it is a common phrase, there is no doubt that it is true, Jehovah understands us better than anyone. He knows what we think and feel, he wants to take care of us and be by our side in difficult times.

On some occasion in our lives we may need help, especially to face the problems that arise; if they came to us, it would not be unusual for the situation to lead us to irremediable hopelessness. It may well seem to us that the burden is more than we can bear.

We have an example of a servant of God David, who trusted in Jehovah when he was afraid. On one occasion David took refuge in the domain of Akish, king of the Philistine city of Gath, the same city where Goliath was born. Then the King's servants accused him of being an enemy of the nation. What did David do in that dangerous situation? Let's read Psalm Chapter 56 verses 1 to 4 it says the following.

LET'S READ PSALMS 56:1-4.

Grant me your favor, oh God, for mortal man is attacking me.  All day long they fight against me and oppress me. 2 My opponents spend the day attacking me; With arrogance, many fight against me. 3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. 4 In God—I praise his word—I put my trust in God; I'm not afraid. What can a simple man do to me?

As we observed in the reading, David prayed fervently to Jehovah. He told him how he felt and that he was afraid to escape from that situation. David had to pretend that he was crazy, but he knew that it was Jehovah who had freed him. By blessing his actions, his absolute trust in him showed that he truly was a fearful man, who greatly trusted God.

Like David, we can show that we fear God. In what way? trusting in his promise to help us when we go through difficulties, let's take an example if we are diagnosed with an illness, perhaps at first we may be scared, but having the confidence that we are in the hands of a good doctor will surely help us feel calmer,

Perhaps in the past this doctor has treated many other patients who suffered from the same disease, perhaps now he is listening to us very carefully and we notice that he really understands what we feel and perhaps he tells us that he is going to give us a treatment that has helped. a lot to other people, something similar happens with Jehovah, we will trust him more if we think about what he has already done, what he is doing now and what he will do for us.

When David asked Jehovah for help, he did not sit idly by, rather he used the physical and mental abilities that Jehovah had given him, and faced the problem. However, he knew that human beings cannot depend solely on their own strength, and that is how we must see it, once we have done everything within our reach, we have to leave the rest in the hands of Jehovah, the truth. is that many times the only thing we can do is trust him. That is when the fear of God becomes something much more real for us, without a doubt these sincere words of David recorded in Psalm chapter 25 verse 14 are very encouraging. There David under divine inspiration said that intimate friendship with Jehovah is for those who fear him and he makes his covenant known to them.

As this Psalm shows, it is important to fear Jehovah, if we do so we can obtain a wonderful reward, an intimate friendship with him. Jehovah is the best friend we can have, he greatly values our endurance and knows that it is difficult, because Satan wants us to turn our backs on God. So every day that we are Loyal to Jehovah is one more day that we contribute to responding to these challenges.

As imperfect human beings, it is sometimes difficult to endure, especially if we have health, economic, emotional or other problems, every day can become a test. Furthermore, if our expectations take time to be met, we might become discouraged. Jehovah greatly values that despite all this we continue to serve him with endurance. Let's please read Psalm chapter 56 verse 8, it says the following:

LET'S READ PSALM 56:8.

You are aware of my wandering life. Collect my tears in your wineskin. Aren't they written down in your book?

We observe that David, although he was sad and distressed, implored God for his kindness and compassion saying: "Put my tears in your wineskin." Wineskins were very common containers, in David's time they were made from the skin of a sheep or a goat and Used to store water, oil, wine or butter, these containers can hold large quantities of water, depending on the size of the animal, and are well known for their ability to keep the contents cool even under the sweltering desert sun.

David's moving reference to the wineskins means a lot to all of us, because we know that Satan controls the world and it is common for people, like David, to suffer emotionally, mentally or physically, especially if they are trying to please God. . We can trust that our heavenly father not only sees the trials we face, but also understands how they affect us emotionally.

Jehovah perfectly understands our suffering, and moved by compassion, he keeps all the tears we shed in a symbolic bottle, because he does not want to forget any of them. Satan knows that we value life very much, which is why he assures us that we are willing to sacrifice anything, even our friendship with Jehovah, in order to stay alive, but how wrong he is, since he has the means to cause death, he takes advantage of our fear. natural to die with the intention that we turn our backs on Jehovah.

Sometimes Satan uses some people to threaten us and tell us that if we do not renounce our faith, they will kill us or he may use a medical emergency to make us fall and fail Jehovah, perhaps doctors or our non-witness family members. We may be pressured to accept a blood transfusion which is against God's law, or someone may try to convince us to accept a treatment that violates biblical principles, but we can be sure that Jehovah is on our side and will not allow that we suffer no irreparable harm. This is how David expressed it in Psalm chapter 56 verses 9 to 13. He says.

LET'S READ PSALM 56:9-13.

The day I begged for help, my enemies will retreat. I have complete confidence in this: God is on my side. 10 In God—I praise his word in Jehovah I praise his word, 11 in God I put my trust; I'm not afraid. What can a simple human being do to me?

12 I am subject to the vows I have made to you, O God. I will offer you expressions of gratitude. 13 For you have saved me from death and kept my feet from stumbling, so that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

Like David, we must meditate on what God will do for us in the future, because it is true that none of us wants to die, but we know that if we were to lose our lives, Jehovah would still love us. Jehovah's friends who die remain alive in his memory, as if they still existed, and he is eager to bring them back to life. Jehovah has paid a very high price for us to have eternal life, we know very well how much he loves us and cares for us, that is why when we are sick or threatened with death, we do not turn our backs on him, on the contrary we turn to him to give us comfort. wisdom and strength.

In our activity guide for this week, we can see in the image that this sister feels distressed, so she prays to Jehovah from the heart. Likewise, if we are going through a bad time, we can pray to God with all our hearts. It is true that Jehovah has not promised us that we will now live a life without problems, but whatever we have to go through in this system Jehovah has promised that in the new world he will eliminate all problems.

We must never doubt that Jehovah has enough power to resurrect the Marks and not only that, also heal us and eliminate all our enemies. Although this world is full of things that scare us, we must imitate it and not let fear paralyze us because we know that God is on our side.
