Love the truth (Zech. 8:19).
Jesus stressed the importance of seeking justice (Matt. 5:6). This means that we must desire with all our might to do what is right, good, and clean from God's point of view. Do you love truth and justice? For sure yes. That is why he hates lies and everything that is false and evil (Ps. 119:128, 163). Those who lie act like Satan, the ruler of this world (John 8:44; 12:31). One of the Devil's goals is to tarnish Jehovah's holy name. He has been telling lies about our God since the rebellion in the Garden of Eden, where he implied that Jehovah is a selfish and lying ruler who deprives human beings of good things (Gen. 3:1, 4, 5). Because of his toxic lies, many people have a low opinion of Jehovah. When people choose not to love the truth, Satan can lead them to commit all kinds of injustice and evil acts (Rom. 1:25-31). w23.03 2 para. 3.
What can you do to defend truth and justice?
What you do with your life will show others that you reject Satan's lies, that you stand for the truth, that you want Jehovah to be your ruler, and that you want to obey his righteous standards. For your life to convey that message, you must promise Jehovah in a prayer that it will serve him forever. Then you have to be baptized to publicly demonstrate that you have dedicated yourself to him. It is clear that love for truth and justice is a powerful motivation to take the step of being baptized.
According to Psalm 45:4, what reasons do we have to love Jesus Christ?
Why do you love Jesus Christ? We find some compelling reasons in Psalm 45:4 (read it). Jesus defends and promotes truth, humility and justice. So it stands to reason that if you love truth and justice, you also love Jesus. For example, think about the courage with which Jesus stood up for truth and justice (John 18:37). But how does it promote humility?
What stands out to you most about the humility of Jesus?
Jesus promotes humility with his words and actions. For example, he always gives all the glory to his Father; he never seeks recognition from others (Mark 10:17, 18; John 5:19). What do you think of the humility of Jesus? Doesn't it drive you to love the Son of God and follow in his footsteps? For sure yes. Why is he so humble? Because Jehovah is humble, and Jesus loves his Father and perfectly imitates his personality (Ps. 18:35; Heb. 1:3). Isn't it true that this brings you closer to Jesus?
Why do we love that Jesus is our King?
We love that Jesus is our King because he is the ideal ruler. Jehovah himself qualified him and appointed him King (Isa. 50:4, 5). Also, think about the selfless love Jesus showed us (John 13:1). Since Jesus is our King, he deserves all our love. He himself explained that people who truly love him—those he considers his friends—show their love by obeying his commandments (John 14:15; 15:14, 15). Tremendous honor to be friends of the Son of Jehovah!
How is the baptism of Jesus similar to that of Christians?
One of Jesus' commands is for his followers to be baptized (Matt. 28:19, 20). He himself set the example. Although there are some differences between his baptism and that of his disciples, there are also similarities (see the sidebar “Differences between Jesus' baptism and that of his followers”). For example, when Jesus was baptized, he appeared to do the will of his Father (Heb. 10:7). His disciples do something similar. When they are baptized, they publicly demonstrate that they have dedicated themselves to Jehovah and that from that moment on the most important thing in their life is to do God's will, not their own. Thus they follow the example of their Master.
