Jehovah God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, curse you” (Gen. 3:14).

In Genesis 3:14, 15 there is mention of a “serpent” and the “offspring” of that serpent. “The serpent” could not have been a real serpent because he would not have understood the sentence that Jehovah passed in the Garden of Eden. He had to be an intelligent being. And the Bible shows us clearly who he is. Revelation 12:9 says that “the original serpent” is Satan, the Devil. When the Bible uses the word “offspring” in a symbolic sense, it refers to those who imitate the thinking and behavior of their symbolic father. So the offspring of the serpent are made up of spiritual beings and humans who oppose Jehovah and his people, just as Satan does. Among them are the angels who abandoned their post in heaven in the days of Noah and evil human beings who act like their father, the Devil (Gen. 6:1, 2; John 8:44; 1 John 5:19; Jude 6). w22.07 14, 15 paras. Why can't Eve be “the woman” of Genesis 3:15?

Let's now find out who “the woman” is. Could it be Eve? No. Let's think about this. The prophecy says that the woman's offspring would crush the head of the serpent. As we already saw, the serpent is a spiritual being, Satan. Therefore, it is impossible for an imperfect human being, a descendant of Eve, to destroy Satan. So something more is needed.

How does Revelation 12:1, 2, 5, 10 help us identify the woman of Genesis 3:15?

The last book of the Bible tells us who the woman in Genesis 3:15 is (read Revelation 12:1, 2, 5, 10). She is not a woman of flesh and blood. She has the moon under her feet and on her head she wears a crown of 12 stars. Furthermore, she gives birth to a very special son, the Kingdom of God. Since the Kingdom is heavenly, women have to be too. She represents the heavenly part of Jehovah's organization, which is made up of faithful spiritual beings (Gal. 4:26).

Who is the main part of the woman's offspring, and when did they become so? (Genesis 22:15-18).

Thanks to the Word of God, we can also identify the main part of the woman's offspring. This offspring would come through Abraham (read Genesis 22:15-18). And the prophecy was fulfilled, since Jesus was a direct descendant of that faithful patriarch (Luke 3:23, 34). But the offspring would have to be more than just a human being to be able to crush Satan and put an end to him. Therefore, when Jesus was about 30 years old, he was anointed, and thus became the spirit-begotten Son of God. At that time, he became the main part of the woman's offspring (Gal. 3:16). After his death and resurrection, God crowned him “with glory and honor” and gave him “all authority in heaven and on earth,” including the authority “to destroy the works of the Devil” (Heb. 2: 7; Matt. 28:18; 1 John 3:8).

Who else is part of the woman's offspring, and when do they become so? and what will we see next?

Now, the woman's offspring would have a secondary part. The apostle Paul identified this part of the offspring when he wrote to anointed Christians, Jews and other nations: “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to the promise” (Gal. 3:28, 29). . When Jehovah anoints a Christian with holy spirit, that person becomes part of the woman's offspring. Therefore, the descendants are made up of Jesus Christ and the 144,000 who will reign with him (Rev. 14:1). They all try to think and act like their Father, Jehovah.

We have already identified the characters of Genesis 3:15. Now we will briefly review what Jehovah has been doing to fulfill his words, and then we will see how this prophecy helps us today.
