TREASURES FROM GOD'S WORD:  January 15-21, 2024, Why we can trust in the promise of eternal life, Prepared Discourse.

Why we can trust the promise of eternal life (10 mins.).

In a world full of uncertainties and challenges, finding peace, hope and certainty of Divine promises is a priceless gift. To delve into this topic we will begin our speech with a reflection on the eternity of our creator. In the book of Job chapter 36 verse 26 he reveals to us an amazing truth about the greatness of our God. Let's read together please…….

LET'S READ JOB 36:26

Yes, God is bigger than we can understand; The number of his years escapes our understanding.

Here we are presented with the idea that the magnitude of God is so vast that our human minds cannot fully encompass it. That's right, from the human perspective it is crucial to understand that God has existed forever and for all eternity, his eternity is a fundamental pillar that supports the promise of eternal life that he has made to us.

How could we trust a promise of eternal life, if the one who offers it did not live forever. This is a question that we can ask ourselves to understand about this topic, and as we have seen in Job 36:26, we are presented with the immensity of God, and it is only from the perspective of how great God is that we cannot know him. .

First Timothy 1:17 presents Jehovah as the king of eternity, a title that reinforces the idea of his lasting existence and immutable power, an essential aspect to support the Divine promise of eternal life. And what can we also mention about the wisdom and divine power of Jehovah. We continue our analysis now by turning to the book of Job chapter 36 verse 27 and 28 where Job presents us with the magnificence of the Divine creation, which he makes the drops of water arise, the text says the following….

LET'S READ JOB 36:27,28.

He makes the drops of water rise; the vapor condenses to form rain; 28 then the clouds pour it out, precipitating it on humanity.

This passage gives us a perspective on the water cycle, a vital phenomenon for the existence of life on earth, the sun, perfect distance, the process of evaporation and condensation. All of this meticulous design reveals the wisdom and power of Jehovah as set forth in Ecclesiastes 1:7.

This effective and sustainable cycle demonstrates that God has placed the earth in an ideal location to sustain life. Ecclesiastes 1:7 says all the rivers are armed and the sea is not filled, to the place from which the rivers come out there they flow again. So they are interesting texts that let us see about how Jehovah created all things.

Now also in this information we can analyze about divine guidance to obtain eternal life, and in Job 36:4, 22, it reveals to us the certainty of the word of God. There he says…

LET'S READ JOB 36:4,22.

4 I assure you that my words are not false; He who is perfect in knowledge is here before you.

22 Look! God is sublime in his power; What instructor is like him?

So this text does not present Jehovah as the perfect teacher whose words are true and whose knowledge is complete; there is no other teacher like him, no one who can match his sublime power.

This passage highlights the importance of following Divine teachings to obtain the eternal life that he promises us. Now, why can we continue to trust in this promise of eternal life? In God's own word in John 17:3 he says: This means eternal life that they come to know you, the only true God, whom you sent Jesus Christ.

This passage reinforces this point by clearly defining that eternal life is knowing Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ. Here we are presented with a fundamental truth: the search for Divine knowledge is the key to eternal life. Hebrews 6:19 also says that this sure and firm hope we have is like an anchor for the soul and enters the place that is on the other side of the curtain.

In our activity guide for this week we can see a very encouraging image of what the future will be like for all those who acquire the knowledge of Jehovah and Jesus mentioned in John 17:3.

In the image we can see our dear brothers. They are enjoying a wonderful life, in which we can find peace, tranquility, food in abundance, and not only that, the children will be able to enjoy the company of animals that are wild today, such as the lion and we will see beautiful flowers that will adorn the entire earth.

So the hope of eternal life is like a precious gift from God, presented here in this passage as an anchor that holds our souls in the midst of the storms of life. This hope not only helps us face trials and persecutions, but also acts as a helmet that protects our mind from negative influences, allowing us to reject the bad and embrace the good.

In summary, trusting in the promise of eternal life involves recognizing the eternity of Jehovah, the divine wisdom and power evident in creation, following the teachings of our perfect teacher and clinging to hope as an anchor and helmet in our daily lives. So may this reflection and these passages, or this topic that we have considered, strengthen our faith, keep us hopeful of achieving eternal life, and inspire us to live with the certainty that eternal life is real and Jehovah has promised it to us.
