DAILY TEXT, Today Wednesday, January 10, 2024, Christ suffered for you and thus set an example for you to faithfully follow in his steps (1 Pet. 2:21).

Let us examine the scriptures every day 2024

Christ suffered for you and thus set an example for you to faithfully follow in his footsteps (1 Pet. 2:21).

While on Earth, Jesus was falsely accused of being “a glutton and a drinker of wine,” of being in the service of the Devil, of not keeping the Sabbath, and even of blaspheming against God (Matt. 11:19; 26: 65; Luke 11:15; John 9:16). However, Jesus never responded in a bad way. If someone speaks harshly to us, we should be like Jesus and not repay him in kind (1 Pet. 2:22, 23). Of course, sometimes it is not easy to control yourself (James 3:2). What will help us achieve it? If someone speaks badly to us in preaching, let us not focus on his bad reaction. A brother named Sam says, “I try to think that the person needs to hear the truth and that they can change.” It is also possible that the person became angry simply because we arrived at a bad time. When we encounter someone who is upset, we can briefly pray to Jehovah to help us stay calm and not say something that is unkind or disrespectful. w22.04 6 paras. 8, 9.

According to 1 Timothy 4:13, what should our goal be?

Strive to be a good teacher. Timothy had a lot of experience in preaching, but he still needed to continue improving as a teacher (read 1 Timothy 4:13). How can we be more skilled teachers? We must prepare well. To do this, we have very useful tools, such as the Be Better Readers and Teachers booklet, and the “Be Better Teachers” section of the Christian Life and Ministry Meeting Activity Guide. Are you taking advantage of these aids? If you prepare well, you will feel less nervous and speak with more confidence.

What have some brothers done to be better teachers?

Another thing we can do to be better teachers is to watch what other brothers in the congregation do and follow their example. Sam, mentioned in paragraph 9, looks at what details make some brothers good teachers. So he listens to them carefully and tries to imitate their way of teaching. A sister named Thalia pays attention to how siblings who are good speakers present public speeches. By doing this, she has learned to speak and reason about topics that people often mention in preaching.

What do some people find difficult to do in meetings?

We can all do our part in meetings by singing and giving well-prepared comments (Ps. 22:22). Some have a hard time singing and commenting in meetings. Does it happen to you? Then you will surely like to know what has helped others overcome their fears.

What can help you sing enthusiastically at meetings?

Sing with enthusiasm. Remember that the most important reason we sing in meetings is to praise Jehovah. Let's look at the case of a sister named Sara. Although she does not believe that she has a great voice, she wants to praise Jehovah by singing. So, when she prepares for a meeting, she doesn't overlook the songs. She rehearses them and tries to see what relationship there is between the lyrics and the topic being discussed at the meeting. She says, “All of this helps me focus more on the words than on my voice.”

If you are shy, what can help you comment in meetings?

Get in the habit of commenting. To be honest, this is very difficult for many brothers. TalĂa, mentioned in paragraph 11, says: “Although it doesn't show in my voice, I get very, very nervous when I have to speak in public. So commenting is difficult for me.” But that doesn't stop him from commenting. When preparing for meetings, she keeps in mind that the first response to a question should be brief and direct. She says, “It's okay for my answers to be to the point and short and sweet because, at the end of the day, that's the kind of feedback the driver expects.”
