DAILY TEXT, From today Monday, January 8, 2024, Oh, Jah, if you kept a record of errors, who could stand? (Ps. 130:3).

Let us examine the scriptures every day 2024

Monday January 8, 2024

Oh, Jah, if you kept a record of mistakes, who could stand? (Ps. 130:3).

Without a doubt, there is no one in the entire universe who forgives like Jehovah. Because? First, because he is always willing to forgive. Second, because he knows everything about us and he is the one who can best see if we are repentant from the heart. And, third, because when Jehovah forgives he wipes the slate clean. Thanks to that we can have a good conscience and approval of him. Of course, as long as we are imperfect, we will continue to sin. But we take great comfort in what Insight into the Scriptures, volume 1, page 209 says: “Since Jehovah has mercy on the carnal weaknesses of his servants, they need not be in a constant condition of remorse because of the mistakes they commit. its inherent imperfection. (Ps 103:8-14; 130:3) If you walk conscientiously in God's ways, you can feel joyful. (Phil 4:4-6; 1Jn 3:19-22.) w22.06 7 paras. 18, 19.

What have we learned so far about Jehovah's forgiveness?

As we have seen, Jehovah's forgiveness does not depend on the seriousness of a sin. Additionally, we have learned that Jehovah uses his knowledge as our Creator, Lawgiver, and Judge when deciding whether or not he forgives someone. So, what things does Jehovah pay attention to?

According to Luke 12:47, 48, what does Jehovah take into account when deciding whether to forgive?

One thing that Jehovah takes into account is whether the sinner knew that what he was doing was wrong. Jesus said it clearly, as we can read in Luke 12:47, 48 (read it). When a person knowingly does something that God condemns and is evil, he commits a grave sin. This person risks not being forgiven by Jehovah (Mark 3:29; John 9:41). But we must admit that sometimes we realize that we did something that was wrong. In this case, is there a possibility that Jehovah will forgive us? Of course. And this brings us to another thing that Jehovah takes into account.

What does it mean to repent, and why is it so important to do so?

Another thing that Jehovah takes into account is whether the sinner is truly repentant. What does it mean to repent? It means changing your mind, attitude or objectives. Furthermore, the repentant person feels remorse and deep sadness for the bad things he did or for not having done the good things he should have done. He not only feels bad for his mistakes, but also for the poor spiritual state that led her to commit them. Let's think again about kings Manasseh and David. Although they committed very serious sins, Jehovah forgave them because they repented from the heart (1 Kings 14:8). So Jehovah only forgives someone if he sees evidence that he is repentant. It is not enough to regret the sins committed. We must get to work.c And that brings us to another thing that Jehovah takes into account.

What is conversion, and how does it help us not repeat the same sins? (Isaiah 55:7).

What other important thing does Jehovah pay attention to? In the conversion. To convert is to turn or turn around, that is, to leave the evil path and begin to live as Jehovah wants (read Isaiah 55:7). The person who is converted must transform his mind to be guided by the thoughts of Jehovah (Rom. 12:2; Eph. 4:23). He must be determined to leave behind his evil thoughts and actions (Col. 3:7-10). But let us not forget that in reality what makes it possible for Jehovah to forgive us and cleanse us from our sins is for us to demonstrate faith in Jesus' sacrifice. When Jehovah sees that we are trying our best to change our behavior, he forgives us considering the sacrifice of his Son (1 John 1:7).
