TREASURES OF THE BIBLE, August 15-21, 2022, “With All Their Souls They Built the Temple,” Prepared Speech.
“They built the temple with all their soul” (10 mins.)
For many of us it is difficult to maintain enthusiasm permanently. If not, let's take an example: When you buy a new product, isn't it true that you take great care of it? Maybe if it's an appliance in the kitchen, you constantly clean it after use. If it's a new car, you're cleaning it from dust or whatever. You are keeping it as bright as possible.
But when time passes, the days, weeks, months. Isn't it true that we already left the enthusiasm of taking care of it so much? and we kind of overlook certain situations that can get dirty, whether it's that electrical appliance in the kitchen or your car.
How is it possible for us to maintain enthusiasm? Why is it important to do so in the spiritual realm? That's what we're going to talk about in this section of Bible Treasures: "They built the temple with all their souls."
And for this we will use the example of King Solomon . When he was presented with this beautiful opportunity to build the temple of worship for Jehovah. Something his father wanted to do. But he was told that Solomon would. Well, he had to think seriously: “it is for Jehovah”.
LET'S READ: 1 Kings 5:6,17.
6 Now send your people to cut down cedars from Lebanon for me. My servants will work with your servants and I will pay the salary of your servants, whichever you say. For you well know that there is no one among us who knows how to cut down trees like the Sidonians.”17 The king ordered that large stones, expensive stones, be taken out of the quarry to make the foundations of the house with cut stones.
Two quality materials are mentioned here: cedar and carved rocks, as indicated by the 2011 Watchtower. The cedar of Lebanon was particularly coveted for its beauty and the aroma it gave off, and also because it was very resistant to pests and had a lot of moisture. durability.
That is why it is not surprising that Solomon wanted to use that exclusive wood for the construction of the temple. And of course, good foundations had to be laid and the rocks also wanted them to be the best, very expensive and carved, so unbeatable materials were desired.
This way of acting also applies a great deal to construction, whether it be Kingdom Halls, Assemblies or any place of worship for Jehovah.
It is not true that the most resistant materials are chosen, the best construction method, everything so that that place looks excellent for the honor and glory of Jehovah. That's always done. And without a doubt, if you have participated in the construction of a Kingdom Hall, it is an overflowing enthusiasm.
You want to get things right on time, and when it's time for the Kingdom Hall to open, it's certainly a wonderful thing. Many tears run and are things that one commits to continue supporting true worship. The same thing happened in the temple that Solomon built.
LET'S READ: 1 Kings 5:13,16.
13 King Solomon recruited 30,000 men from all over Israel for forced labor. 14 He sent them to Lebanon in batches of 10,000 a month. They spent a month in Lebanon and two months in their homes. And Adoniram was in command of those recruited for compulsory labor. 15 Solomon once had 70,000 common laborers and 80,000 stonecutters in the mountains, 16 in addition to Solomon's 3,300 chief commissioners who supervised the workers.
The number of workers seen in this biblical story is impressive, and there were so many things to do. For example, bringing wood from a distant country to Israel was not easy, they had to cut down the trees, transport them, take them by sea and then they reached Joppa and from there they had to take them to Jerusalem. This seaport was more or less 55 kilometers away from Jerusalem so it was not easy to transport all this wood, but it had to be done. Quality wood.
So a lot of workers were needed and so it was recruited in quantities of 10,000 each month to be used. Managing this number of people was certainly not easy, but Solomon was in charge of appointing foremen on the job and assistants. Everyone was responsible for him.
Have you seen that also happens in Kingdom Hall buildings? A brother who directs others who are supervising the work or teaching how to do a certain job. And they all work as a great team, like a puzzle that each one fits in its place and everything works perfectly. But, in addition to that work that others support when there is a person in charge and that person also with all their soul.
LET'S READ: 1 Kings 6:38.
38 and in the year 11, in the month of bul (that is, the eighth month), the house was finished in all its details and according to the plans. It took him seven years to build it.
We also when we receive instructions from the construction committees. We want to follow exactly what we are told. Perhaps the local customs are somehow different from the constructions, but as indicated, it has been proven that building it in the way we are told is the best. That is why it is worthwhile for all of us to loyally support these constructions.
In the case of Solomon and the people of Israel, they made a beautiful temple for Jehovah, because they worked with all their soul. But when one reviews the biblical story. Unfortunately, the following that were born did not show that same enthusiasm to worship Jehovah. Like when you have something new, you take care of it, cleaning it, but if you pass it on to another person, a son, a brother or a relative, it is true that you do not have the same feeling towards that object as the person who bought it, you take it and taking care of him
That is why we continue making all the necessary effort to give him the honor that Jehovah deserves, so that we continue doing things with all our soul. May our enthusiasm never wane, but rather increase by giving thanks to Jehovah for his kindness that he has given us so far.
