Imitate God (Eph. 5:1).

Let us consider some ways in which Jehovah shows his generosity. For example, he provides us with material things. We may not always have luxuries, but he makes sure that most of us have necessities, such as food, clothing, and a place to live. (Ps. 4:8; Matt. 6:31-33; 1 Tim. 6:6-8) And he does this not out of a mere sense of obligation.

Let us analyze Jesus’ words found at Matthew 6:25, 26. In these verses, Jesus was speaking about the birds of the air and said: “They do not sow or reap or store away in barns.” But then he added: “Your heavenly Father feeds them.” Then he asked: “And are you not worth more than they?” If Jehovah cares for the animals, we are convinced that he will also care for us. Since he is our Father and loves us, he gives us what we need. (Psalm 145:16; Matthew 6:32) w24.09 26, 27 pars. 4-6

What will help us be happier?

What can we do if we want to be even happier when we give? As we will see in this article, we can imitate Jehovah’s generosity (Eph. 5:1). We will also examine what we can do if we feel that others do not appreciate what we do for them. All of this will help us to keep giving without losing our joy and to be even happier.

What is one way to imitate Jehovah's generosity?

Like Jehovah, we love others and therefore give them what we can materially. For example, do you know any brother or sister who needs food or clothing? Jehovah can use you to help meet that need. Jehovah’s servants are especially known for being generous in times of emergency.

Let us consider what happened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some brothers shared food, clothing, and other basic necessities with those in need. In addition, many generously donated to the worldwide work so that relief efforts could be organized around the globe. All of them applied what Hebrews 13:16 says: “Do not forget to do good and to share what you have with others, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

What can we do because Jehovah gives us strength? (Philippians 2:13)

Jehovah gives us strength. He has unlimited power and he loves to share it with his faithful servants (read Philippians 2:13). Have you ever asked him to give you strength to resist temptation, to endure a difficult trial, or simply to handle your daily activities? When Jehovah responded by giving you strength, you probably felt like the apostle Paul, who wrote: “I have strength for everything thanks to the one who gives me power” (Philippians 4:13).
