Let us examine the Scriptures every day 2026

They did not accept it as the word of men, but as what it truly is, the word of God (1 Thess. 2:13).

Some people say they have read the Bible dozens of times. But do they really believe in it and have they allowed its teachings to change their lives? Sadly, in most cases, no. How different we servants of Jehovah are! We strive to show that he is at work in our lives. But it is not always easy to read and apply God’s Word. We may not find the time to read it. Perhaps we tend to read it so quickly that we retain almost nothing. Or maybe we become discouraged when we see all the changes we need to make. Whatever obstacle you face, Jehovah will help you overcome it. Be determined to apply God’s Word. Without a doubt, the more you read the Bible and apply it in your life, the happier you will be. (James 1:25) w24.09 7 pars. 15, 16

Why shouldn't you be discouraged if, while reading the Bible, you see that you need to make changes?

Don’t be discouraged if you find that you need to make a few changes. Actually, that shows that you read the Bible with the right attitude and humility, and that you try to be honest with yourself. Remember, too, that putting on “the new personality” is an ongoing process (Col. 3:10). What will help you to keep applying God’s Word?

What suggestion might be helpful?

One thing that will help is to be modest and not try to apply everything you learn in your reading at once (Prov. 11:2). Here's a suggestion: make a list of the things you need to improve on, choose one or two to focus on first, and leave the rest for later. Where could you start?

Which goals can you focus on first?

First, you could focus on the goal that is easiest for you to achieve or the one where you most need to improve. Once you know where you want to start, look for information in our publications, perhaps using the Watch Tower Publications Index or the Study Guide for Jehovah’s Witnesses. Pray to Jehovah and ask him to give you “both the desire and the strength to act.” (Phil. 2:13) Then put what you have learned into practice. Seeing the progress you are making will surely motivate you to work on another goal. In fact, the changes you make will likely help you improve in the areas next on your list.
