Do not be afraid. I will help you (Isaiah 41:13).
Throughout the centuries, God’s message has strengthened his servants when they faced a difficult task. Consider the prophet Jeremiah. When Jehovah commanded him to go and preach, he felt intimidated and said: “I do not know how to speak. I am only a youth.” (Jer. 1:6) How did he overcome his insecurities? He drew strength from God’s word. He said: “His words became like a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I grew tired of holding them in.” (Jer. 20:8, 9)
Jeremiah’s territory was far from easy, but the message he had to proclaim gave him the strength he needed to accomplish his mission. We Christians are also strengthened by the message of God’s Word. The apostle Paul said that accurate knowledge can motivate us to conduct ourselves “in a manner worthy of Jehovah” and to “bear fruit in every good work.” (Col. 1:9, 10) w24.04 14, 15 pars. 2-4
Why shouldn't you be discouraged if you find it difficult to feel comfortable in the ministry?
And you? Do you find it hard to feel comfortable in the ministry? If that happens to you sometimes, don't be discouraged. Your insecurity may be a sign of humility. Perhaps it's because you don't want to draw attention to yourself or get involved in arguments. Besides, no one likes to be rejected, especially when all they want is to help. Your heavenly Father understands the challenges you face and wants to lend a hand (Isa. 41:13). In this article, we'll review five suggestions for dealing with those feelings and enjoying the ministry more.
What do we gain when we read God's Word and meditate on it? (Colossians 1:9, 10).
Christians are also strengthened by the message of God’s Word. Writing to the Christians in Colossae, the apostle Paul told them that accurate knowledge could motivate them to conduct themselves “in a manner worthy of Jehovah” and to “bear fruit in every good work.” (Read Colossians 1:9, 10.) And certainly, preaching the good news is a good work. As we can see, when we read God’s Word and meditate on it, our faith in Jehovah is strengthened, and we gain a better understanding of why it is so important to share the Kingdom message.
What will help us get the most out of the Bible?
To get the most out of God’s Word, we cannot read, study, and meditate in a rush. What can you do, for example, if you come across a Bible verse you don’t understand? Instead of ignoring it, look up an explanation of the verse in the Watch Tower Publications Index or the Study Guide for Jehovah’s Witnesses. If you devote sufficient time to studying, your confidence in God’s Word will grow. (1 Thess. 5:21) And the more you trust in the Bible, the more you will enjoy sharing what you have learned with others.
