Let us examine the Scriptures every day 2026

God is not unjust and does not forget your works or the love you showed for his name by ministering to the saints and continuing to minister to them (Heb. 6:10).

No matter how many years we have served Jehovah, we should never think that we have earned his mercy. Of course, he values all the things we have done for him. But he did not give us his Son as payment for services rendered, but as a gift. If we were to claim that we have earned his mercy or special treatment, we would actually be saying that we did not need Christ to die for us (compare Galatians 2:21).

The apostle Paul knew that he could not earn God’s forgiveness. So why did he exert himself so much in his service to Jehovah? Because he wanted to show that he was grateful for God’s undeserved kindness (Eph. 3:7). In the same way, we continue to serve Jehovah zealously not because we want to earn his mercy, but because we want to show him that we are grateful for it. w25.01 27 pars. 5, 6

What is another way in which we now benefit from the ransom? (Romans 5:1; James 2:23).

Another benefit we now have thanks to the ransom is that we can have a close friendship with Jehovah. As we saw in the preceding article, at birth we do not have a relationship with God. But because of the ransom we can enjoy “peace with God” and draw close to him (read Romans 5:1; James 2:23).

Why should we be grateful to Jehovah for the privilege of prayer?

Let us consider a very special aspect of our friendship with Jehovah: the privilege of praying to him. He not only hears the prayers offered publicly at meetings but also those that each of us offers to him personally. It is true that prayer calms us and gives us inner peace, but its most important benefit is not that. Rather, it helps us to strengthen our friendship with God. (Psalm 65:2; James 4:8; 1 John 5:14) When Jesus was on earth, he prayed very often because he knew that Jehovah was listening to him and that these prayers would keep his relationship with him strong. (Luke 5:16) How grateful we are that, thanks to Jesus’ sacrifice, we can be friends with Jehovah and even pray to him.

How will Jehovah's faithful servants benefit from the ransom in the future?

How will God’s faithful servants benefit from the ransom in the future? Jehovah will give them everlasting life. Many people think that living forever is impossible because humans have been dying for thousands of years. But Jehovah created humans for the purpose of living forever. And although the idea of living forever may seem incredible today, the price Jehovah paid to restore that possibility to us was also incredible: the life of his own Son. (Rom. 8:32)
