APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, June 22-28, 2026, Start conversations: INFORMAL PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 3, point 5). Prepared Assignment.
Start conversations (4 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. (lmd lesson 3 point 5).
Setting: The publisher notices an elderly person struggling to cross a busy street and offers to help. As they walk together, they discuss the challenges of old age. With empathy, the publisher shares a Bible verse and speaks of the hope for a future free from sickness and limitations. The elderly person is encouraged, accepts a brochure, and expresses gratitude for both the help received and the message heard.
Publisher: Good afternoon, ma'am. Excuse me for bothering you. I saw you waiting to cross the avenue, and it seems the traffic is quite heavy. Would you like me to walk you across?
Assistant: Oh, thank you so much, dear. Yes, you would be doing me a great favor. I used to cross the street without any problem, but now my legs don't respond like they used to.
Publisher: Of course. Take my arm. Let's take it easy; there's no rush. Look, the traffic light is about to change.
Assistant: How kind of you. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to ask for help, but this avenue makes me nervous.
Publisher: It doesn't have to feel this way. We all need help sometimes. We can cross now. Let's go slowly.
Assistant: Thank you. I live a few blocks from here. I went out to pick up some medication and I'm already feeling tired.
Publisher: I understand. Over the years, some activities become more difficult, but that doesn't mean a person is worth less. On the contrary, a lifetime of experience is invaluable.
Assistant: I'm glad to hear that. Sometimes you feel like you can't do the things you used to do.
Publisher: Many people feel this way. In fact, I was reading a Bible verse today that talks about older people. It's in Proverbs 16:31, and it says, “Gray hair is a crown of beauty when it is in the path of righteousness.”
Assistant: What a beautiful text. I'd never heard it written that way before.
Publisher: It reminds us that Jehovah God greatly values older people and the wisdom they have acquired over the years.
Assistant: That's very encouraging. Do you belong to any religion?
Publisher: Yes, I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Today we are sharing a Bible-based message of hope with our neighbors.
Assistant: And what is that message?
Publisher: The Bible promises that very soon God will eliminate sickness, suffering, and the limitations of old age. He wants people to enjoy a full and healthy life.
Assistant: How wonderful that would be! I'd love to be able to walk again without knee pain.
Publisher: That hope is precisely one of the promises we find in the Bible. That's why I like to share it with others.
Assistant: Listening to her has really cheered me up.
Publisher: I'm so glad. Look, here's a booklet that explains those Bible promises in more detail. I'll give it to you so you can read it at your leisure at home. By the way, my name is [name].
Assistant: Thank you very much, [name]. I am [name]. I will gladly read it. And thank you also for helping me cross the avenue.
Publisher: It was a pleasure meeting you, Mrs. [name]. Have a wonderful afternoon and get home safely.
