Setting: During the Bible study, the publisher and the student discuss the box “Am I prepared to preach with the congregation?”, in which they address the student’s goal of becoming an unbaptized publisher.
Publisher: [Name], I wanted to congratulate you on the preparation you've done today. It's clear you're taking what you're learning from the Bible very seriously.
Assistant: Thank you so much. The truth is, I enjoy learning more and more each time I learn.
Publisher: And it shows. Furthermore, I've noticed something very beautiful: when we talk about God's promises or some biblical principle, you immediately think of your family or the people at your work.
Assistant: Yes, because many of the things I learn seem very logical and useful to me. Sometimes I even mention them to them.
Publisher: That's excellent. Sharing what one learns about Jehovah with others comes naturally when Bible truths touch the heart. In fact, that's part of a very important step: becoming an unbaptized publisher.
Assistant: I've heard that term in meetings, but I don't really know what it means.
Publisher: Well, an unbaptized publisher is someone who loves Jehovah and wants to formally share about him with others along with the congregation. And if you'd like, we can discuss whether you're ready to preach with the congregation.
Assistant: Do you really think I could do it?
Publisher: Of course. Look, we can review together the box titled “Am I Prepared to Preach with the Congregation?”, which appears on page 254 of our book. And it’s not about being an expert, but about meeting some basic requirements.
Assistant: I understand.
Publisher: For example, one of the points is to develop the habit of praying and studying the Bible regularly. How have you felt in that regard?
Assistant: Well, I try to do that every day. I usually start the day with a prayer and a short reading. And when I'm very busy, I at least listen to Bible recordings or publications.
Publisher: That's great. The important thing is that you're continuing to nourish yourself spiritually. And honestly, your effort shows, because now you understand many texts better and even remember some quotes by heart.
Assistant: Yes, I am gradually becoming more familiar with the Bible.
Publisher: And that shows your genuine interest. Another important requirement is to strive to live in harmony with Jehovah’s standards, leaving behind practices that displease him. How have you felt in that regard?
Assistant: Well, there was one thing that was really difficult for me: the issue of images. I understood what the Bible teaches about worship, but I was worried about my family's reaction, because they value them a lot.
Publisher: I imagine it couldn't have been easy.
Assistant: No, but with Jehovah's help I was able to respectfully explain why I no longer wanted to use them in my worship. At first they were a little upset, but now they respect my decision.
Publisher: That shows great courage and love for Jehovah. It shows that you are strengthening your friendship with him and that you are willing to put him first.
Assistant: Yes, I'm really happy to be learning all this.
Publisher: And I'm very glad to hear that. That's why I wanted to ask you something: Would you like to speak with the elders to review these requirements and see if you can already share in the preaching work with the congregation?
Assistant: Yes, I would like that very much.
Publisher: Excellent. Then, if that works for you, we can approach them on Sunday after the meeting.
Assistant: Sure, that sounds good to me.
Publisher: Very good, [Name]. I commend you on the progress you have made. Jehovah certainly values your efforts and your good decisions.
Assistant: Thank you for helping me and being patient with me.
