APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, May 18-24, 2026, Make Return Visits: FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. (Making Disciples: A Work of Love, Lesson 9, Section 4). Assignment Prepared.
Make Return Visits (4 mins.) HOUSE TO HOUSE. Introduce and discuss a video from the teaching kit, but do not play it (lmd lesson 9 point 4).
Setting: During a return visit, the publisher resumes a previous conversation with someone who mentioned being interested in better understanding some Bible teachings. Together they discuss a video entitled “Why Study the Bible?”, which explains that the Bible can help us find answers to life’s important questions.
Publisher: Good afternoon, [Name]. How have you been?
Assistant: Fine, thank you. And you?
Publisher: Very well, thank you. It's good to hear from you again. You know, I was thinking about our conversation last week and I remembered that you mentioned you'd like to better understand some of the Bible's teachings. So today I'd like to show you a very short video titled "Why Study the Bible?" May I show it to you?
Assistant: Yes of course.
(After watching the video).
Publisher: What did you think?
Assistant: Honestly, I was very surprised. Especially when it mentions that the Bible can answer important questions about life. We often hear that certain things are a mystery or that no one has the answer.
Publisher: That's right. And the beautiful thing is that the Bible doesn't avoid these questions; rather, it answers them clearly and practically. Furthermore, nothing is a mystery to God. He perfectly understands why we suffer and what we need to be happy.
Assistant: That really catches my attention, because today people live with a lot of doubts.
Publisher: That's true. For example, some people ask, "Why do bad things happen?", "Why is there so much violence?", or "What happens when someone dies?" And the Bible answers all those questions.
Assistant: Yes, those are precisely the questions one often asks oneself.
Publisher: Of the ones shown in the video, which one would you like to analyze first?
Assistant: Honestly, I find them all interesting, but perhaps we could start with the one about why bad things happen. Sometimes you just don't understand why there's so much suffering.
Publisher: Of course, it's a very common question. And the Bible gives several reasons. One of them is that we are all imperfect. As human beings, we make mistakes, and often our bad decisions or those of others cause suffering.
Assistant: That's true. People often cause problems themselves.
Publisher: Exactly. Furthermore, the Bible mentions another reason in Ecclesiastes 9:11. There it explains that “everyone has their share of troubles and unexpected events.” In other words, sometimes accidents or unexpected situations occur that no one can control.
Assistant: Yes, like when someone is in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Publisher: That's right. And there's a third reason as well. The Bible teaches that Satan exerts influence over this world. That's why we see so much evil, injustice, and violence.
Assistant: I had never really thought about it that way.
Publisher: Many people are surprised when they discover this. But the most important thing is that the Bible not only explains why bad things happen, but also promises that God will soon eliminate suffering.
Assistant: That does give hope.
Publisher: Of course. In fact, I'd like to show you those texts directly in the Bible so you can see that they aren't human ideas, but promises from God.
Assistant: That sounds good. Let me get my Bible so we can read them together.
Publisher: Of course. I'll be waiting for you here.
