TREASURES FROM GOD'S WORD, April 20-26, 2026, How Much Are You Willing to Invest?, Prepared Speech.

How much are you willing to invest? (10 mins.)

Brothers and sisters, we all know that some things in life require investment. If someone wants to learn a trade, improve their health, or strengthen a relationship, they must invest time, effort, and attention. But today, a more important question arises: How much are we willing to invest in something far more valuable?

Jehovah, in his great goodness, offers us something incomparable. But, as we will see, obtaining and keeping it requires our participation.

Jehovah promised that he would teach his children (Is 54:13; w09 9/15 21 par. 3).

First of all, let's think about something very encouraging: Jehovah himself has committed to teaching us.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 54:13

“And all your children shall be taught by the Lord, and the peace of your children shall be abundant.”

What a beautiful promise! This isn't just any teaching, but the teaching of the Creator of the universe. And this promise isn't just for a select few. Jesus indicated in John 10:16 that he also has “other sheep.” In fact, the prophecy at Isaiah 2:1-3 shows people of all nations saying, “He will teach us his ways.” That is being fulfilled today.

Let's think about what this means. Jehovah is not distant or inaccessible. He wants to teach us his way of thinking, his personality, and his ways. And when we accept that teaching, the result is clear: abundant peace.

Furthermore, Jehovah uses very interesting comparisons to help us appreciate his teaching. His words are like refreshing water, like nourishing milk, and like wine that gladdens the heart. In other words, they revitalize us, strengthen us, and make us happy.

But here's the key question: if Jehovah offers us all this… how much are we willing to invest to obtain it?

We must invest time in learning Bible truths (Is 55:1, 2; w18.11 4 pars. 6, 7).

The Bible makes it clear that acquiring the truth comes at a cost. Not in money, but in something equally valuable: our time.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 55:1, 2

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters! And you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without paying anything. 2 Why are you paying money for what is not bread, and why are you spending your income on something that does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me and eat what is good, and you will enjoy the best foods.”

To learn the truth we need time to: listen to the Kingdom message, read the Bible, study the publications, prepare for meetings and attend them.

Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us that we must use our time wisely. This involves making adjustments, because that time must be taken from other activities.

But is it worth it? Consider this illustration: the truth is like a small flower. Would you be content with finding just one flower in a field full of them? Of course not. You would keep looking for more.

The same is true of the truth. We never stop learning. Romans 11:33 highlights the depth of Jehovah’s wisdom. Even in the future, we will continue learning. So the question is not how much there is to learn, but: How much am I willing to invest now?

Perhaps some of us have demanding schedules, family responsibilities, or are simply tired. But we can all analyze our priorities. Sometimes, small adjustments can make a big difference. Because in the end, the time we invest in the truth isn't time wasted… it's an investment with lasting benefits.

Listening attentively requires effort, but it can save our lives (Is 55:3; be 14 pars. 3-5).

However, it is not enough to invest our time in learning biblical truths. We must also listen attentively.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 55:3

“Pay attention and come to me. Listen, and you will live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the promises of faithful love made to David, which are true.”

Paying attention isn't always easy. There are many factors that can distract us: personal worries, noises or movements, tiredness or physical discomfort, and even the responsibility of caring for children.

So, what can we do? One practical thing is to take care of our eyesight. Focus your gaze on the speaker, follow the biblical texts, and avoid visual distractions. It may seem simple, but it makes a big difference.

It is also important to control our thoughts. If our minds become filled with worries, we can do what Psalm 94:19 and Philippians 4:6, 7 say: pray to Jehovah. Ask him for peace and concentration, and do so as often as necessary.

Let us remember something very important: meetings are a gift from Jehovah. He wants us to benefit from them. So, when we make the effort to concentrate, we are not only showing interest—we are protecting our spiritual life. And in a very real sense, listening attentively can save our lives.

In the picture in our activity guide, we see a brother raising his hand to speak at a meeting. This shows us that actively participating and paying attention at meetings is part of investing our time in what is truly important and demonstrates that we value this gift from Jehovah.

Conclusion

Let's return to the initial question: How much are you willing to invest? Jehovah has already done his part. He teaches us, guides us, and offers us truths that refresh, nourish, and gladden us.

Now it's our turn: we must invest time, adjust our priorities, and strive to listen attentively. It's not about doing it perfectly, but about doing it with a willing heart.

So each of us can ask ourselves: Am I investing enough in something as valuable as the truth? If we do, we will not only gain knowledge. We will gain peace, happiness… and most importantly, Jehovah’s approval and everlasting life.
