“I am God, and there is no one like me” (10 mins.)

We live in a world overflowing with promises. Governments, organizations, and even wealth promise to bring us security and happiness. However, history shows that many of these promises are not kept. In contrast, Jehovah provides us with a security that no one else can give us.

Today we will analyze why we can fully trust our God and why nothing can prevent him from fulfilling his purpose. Jehovah is unique because he always accomplishes everything he sets out to do.

There is no one like Jehovah (Is 46:9; w20.06 5 par. 14).

Thousands of years ago, Jehovah declared something that no other being could assert with such authority.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 46:9

“Remember the former things of long ago, that I am God and there is no other. I am God, and there is no one like me.”

These words are not a mere statement; they are backed by facts, by history, and by the exact fulfillment of his promises.

The Bible shows that although Satan rebelled and tried to oppose God’s purpose, Jehovah has never lost control of the situation. The rebellion of Satan and his followers has caused Jehovah grief, as Psalm 78:40 indicates, but Jehovah has handled everything with wisdom, patience, and justice.

Furthermore, he has demonstrated his power in many ways. Jehovah can create, destroy, protect, or restore as needed to accomplish his purposes. But the most outstanding aspect of his personality is not just his power.

The Bible says at 1 John 4:8 that “God is love.” Everything Jehovah does is motivated by that love. Even his handling of rebellion demonstrates his patience and his desire for people to have the opportunity to learn the truth.

Jehovah also works constantly to sanctify his name and to demonstrate that his way of ruling is the best. That is why we can say with certainty that there is truly no one like him.

Nothing can prevent Jehovah from accomplishing his will (Is 46:10, 11; cl 42 par. 14; it “Return from Babylon after the exile” par. 1).

Jehovah himself declares that his decision will stand firm and that he will do everything he sets out to do, and that nothing can prevent him from fulfilling his will.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 46:10, 11

“From the beginning, I foretell the end, and from long ago, things that have not yet been done. I say, ‘My decision will stand, and I will do whatever I wish.’ 11I call a bird of prey from the east, from a distant land, the man who will carry out my decision. I have said it, and I will do it. I have purposed it, and I will accomplish it.”

Biblical history offers compelling evidence of this truth. A prime example is what happened to the people of Judah. In 607 BCE, the land was devastated. Jerusalem was destroyed, and many Jews were taken captive to Babylon, while others fled to Egypt.

At first glance, it seemed that Jehovah's people had vanished and that God's purpose had failed. But that was not the case. Long before, Jehovah had announced through the prophet Jeremiah that the Jews would serve the king of Babylon for seventy years, and that afterward a faithful remnant would return to their land. And that is exactly what happened.

Not even mighty Babylon—which seemed invincible—could prevent the fulfillment of what Jehovah had decreed. After seventy years, the Jews returned to their land.

This fact demonstrates something very important: when Jehovah decides something, nothing and no one can prevent it from being fulfilled. Neither empires, nor rulers, nor Satan himself can stop God's purpose.

Those who trust in false gods end up disappointed (Is 46:6, 7; w99 5/15 14 pars. 18, 19).

In biblical times, some people trusted in idols made of gold or silver. But Isaiah describes something ironic: these idols had to be carried by the people and placed in their designated spots. And once there, they could not move or respond when someone asked them for help.

LET'S READ ISAIAH 46:6, 7

“There are people who squander the gold in their purses, who weigh out silver on the scales. They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god. Then they bow down, yes, they worship it. 7 They lift it onto their shoulders, carry it, and set it in its place, and there it remains. It does not move from where it is. They plead with it, but it does not answer; it cannot save anyone from their distress.”

In contrast to Jehovah, idols and false gods cannot help anyone. History also shows that many sought security in false gods.

For example, King Ahaz sought protection from the gods of Syria. Likewise, some Israelites in Egypt trusted in the so-called “Queen of Heaven” for prosperity. But these false hopes always ended in disappointment.

Today, many people don't worship idols of metal or stone, but modern gods still exist. Jesus spoke of one of them when he said that no one can serve both God and money. The apostle Paul also mentioned greed, saying that it is a form of idolatry.

That's why, for many people, money, possessions, or material success have become their god. Some work their entire lives to acquire luxurious homes, expensive goods, or a comfortable life. And although some manage to obtain these things, they discover that they don't bring true satisfaction.

Why? Because riches are insecure, temporary, and cannot satisfy a person's spiritual needs. Only Jehovah can give true security and happiness.

Conclusion

The Bible makes it clear that Jehovah's statement is absolutely true: “I am God, and there is no one like me.”

We have seen that there is no one like Jehovah, because he combines infinite power with love, wisdom, and justice. Nothing can prevent him from fulfilling his will, as demonstrated by the exact fulfillment of his prophecies. And those who trust in false gods end up disappointed, because only Jehovah can give true security.

That is why, now more than ever, it is important to walk in Jehovah’s ways. This means being loyal to him, trusting fully in his promises, and obeying his standards. As Psalm 11:7 says: “Jehovah is righteous; he loves righteous deeds.”

If we continue to trust in Jehovah and his way of ruling, we will see his purpose fulfilled and his name sanctified forever. In this way, we can trust with absolute certainty what Jehovah says: “I am God, and there is no one like me.”
