APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, March 23-29, 2026, Make Return Visits: INFORMAL PREACHING. (Making Disciples: A Work of Love, Lesson 8, Section 3). Assignment Prepared.
Make Return Visits (5 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. After the Memorial, answer any questions that may have arisen from a guest (lmd lesson 8 point 3).
Setting: After the Memorial, the publisher approaches the person who attended to ask how they felt about the meeting. The person indicates that they enjoyed the meeting and found it very peaceful and respectful, but that they had some questions. The publisher answers their questions using the Bible and encourages them to talk another day about what the Bible says regarding life in the future under God’s Kingdom.
Publisher: Hello, [name]. It was so nice to see you at the Memorial. What did you think of the gathering?
Assistant: I liked it a lot; she was very calm and respectful, but I was left with a question.
Publisher: Sure, tell me.
Assistant: I saw that they passed around the bread and wine, but hardly anyone ate or drank. Why?
Publisher: That's a very good question. The Bible shows that only some Christians partake of those emblems.
Assistant: Who are they?
Publisher: These are the Christians who have the hope of reigning with Christ in heaven. Jesus spoke of this group when he made the covenant for a Kingdom with his apostles.
Assistant: So what hope do the others have?
Publisher: Most faithful Christians hope to live forever here on Earth, when God's Kingdom reigns. That is why we attend the Memorial: to show gratitude for Jesus' sacrifice.
Assistant: That sounds very nice.
Publisher: Yes. In fact, Jesus' death is what makes that hope possible. The Bible says at John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Assistant: I had heard that text before.
Publisher: It is one of the best known because it summarizes the love of God and Jesus for us.
Assistant: I enjoyed learning more about that.
Publisher: I'm so glad. If you'd like, we can look another day at what the Bible says about what life will be like in the future under God's Kingdom.
Assistant: Yes, I would like that, because I have other questions that I would like you to explain to me.
Publisher: Perfect, we'll look at it next time. We have a manual that has helped many people find answers to their questions, but that takes a little more time.
Assistant: Yes, of course. I understand that some things require research. If you'd like, I can give you my phone number and we can get in touch to arrange a day and time.
Publisher: That seems very good to me.
