Start conversations (3 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. Invite an inactive family member to the special talk and the Memorial (lmd lesson 5 point 3).

Setting: The publisher visits an inactive relative to invite her to the Memorial of Jesus’ death and the special talk entitled “Who Will Save the Planet?” The relative wants to attend, but is discouraged by the thought of what people will say about her not attending the meetings; however, she finally decides to attend after remembering all that Jehovah and Jesus have done and continue to do for her.

Publisher: Good afternoon, [name]. How are you? It's been a while since we last saw each other, and since the Memorial of Jesus' death is approaching, I thought of you. I also know you haven't had a very good year this past year.

Assistant: Good afternoon, [name]. I'm feeling better. You know, some days are better than others, but overall I'm getting by.

Publisher: I know. And you also know that Jehovah can be your rock and your refuge. Trusting in him and giving him time will help you overcome this problem completely.

Honestly, we really miss you at our meetings. And what better way to reconnect with God and strengthen our relationship than to gather together to remember the great sacrifice His Son made for us? What do you say? Will you join us this year?

Assistant: I don't know. I'd like to go, but on the other hand, I haven't been to any meetings in months. What will they think of me?

Publisher: Just like me: we miss you very much and we'll be overjoyed to see you. But even more importantly, you know that Jehovah will be even more overjoyed. In fact, his love and sense of justice are reflected even in moments like this, encouraging you to take this step. Come with me to the Memorial and also to the special talk.

Assistant: Okay, I'll go to the Memorial and the talk with you, [name]. I'd really like to; besides, it's the least I can do after all that Jehovah and Jesus have done and continue to do for us.

Publisher: Of course, I'll come pick you up. This year's special talk theme is: “Who Will Save the Planet?” You know what the Bible says, but we can review it together. Let's read Revelation 7:9, 10. Would you like to read it?

Assistant: Of course. “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no man could number, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands, crying out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’”
