LIVING AS CHRISTIANS, February 16-22, 2026, “Why are you so confident?” Analysis and Answers.

“Why are they so confident?” (15 mins.) Discussion with the audience.

Read Isaiah 36:4. Then ask:

Why is it important that we are convinced that what we believe is the truth?

Because the rabbake wasn't just attacking with threats, he was trying to sow doubt in the hearts of the people, as if to say, "What if you're on the wrong side? What if your trust is pure illusion?"

That still happens today. If we are not truly convinced that what we believe is the truth, any attractive argument, a fashionable theory, or peer pressure can shake us. On the other hand, when we know why we believe what we believe, why we trust the Bible, why we are certain that Jehovah is a God of love, and why his moral standards protect us, then we can remain steadfast even when circumstances change.

That conviction not only gives us answers; it gives us stability, protects us from fear, confusion and feeling lost, and helps us to stay calm and say with certainty: "I know in whom I have placed my trust."

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This is important because it helps us stand firm when others question our beliefs. If we are convinced, we will not be easily deceived or doubt, and we will be able to defend our faith with security and confidence.

The account in Isaiah 36:4 shows that the enemy tried to undermine the people's confidence using words that seemed reasonable. This teaches that our faith can be tested. If we are not fully convinced of the truth, we may begin to doubt. That is why it is necessary to strengthen our conviction to remain steadfast.

Isaiah 36:4 shows that attacks on our faith can come in the form of arguments or pressure. This teaches us that it is not enough to believe superficially; we must be sure of why we believe. When we have that conviction, it is easier to resist pressure and remain loyal to Jehovah no matter the situation.

Play the video "When you're a teenager: Is it reasonable to believe in God?" Then ask:

What did Elibaldo and Crystal do to be more certain that God exists?

Both Elibaldo and Crystal followed a very nice and practical pattern. First, they turned to Jehovah, and then they sought reliable information.

Amidst the pressure of his class, Elibaldo prayed to Jehovah for help and then researched the origin of life, which led him to reflect on the incredible nature of the brain, neurons, and all that the human body can do. This helped him see that such complexity doesn't fit with the idea of chance, but rather with that of a Designer.

Crystal took advantage of the situation. Instead of feeling embarrassed, she went home, talked to her mother, and together they looked up jw.org. They opened the brochure on the origin of life and took the time to read and understand until everything began to make sense. That experience gave her the feeling that Jehovah was helping her to respond calmly and with conviction.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

They didn't believe simply because others told them so; they investigated for themselves. They analyzed the evidence, observed creation, and reasoned that everything that exists has a Designer. This helped convince them that God does exist and strengthened their faith.

What stands out is that they didn't just believe out of habit; they investigated for themselves. They analyzed the evidence, thought logically, and looked for reasons to believe. This teaches me that Jehovah wants us to use our minds and base our faith on conviction, not just on what others say.

One remarkable aspect is that they observed creation and reflected on how well-designed it is. For example, the universe, nature, and life function with order and precision. This helped them conclude that there must have been an intelligent Creator. This teaches us that we can strengthen our faith by observing the things Jehovah has done.

What convinces you that God exists?

I am convinced that God exists not only because of creation, but also because of what I have seen in the Bible and in my own life. When I read fulfilled prophecies, I see the harmony of the biblical message throughout time and notice how practical its advice is for family, emotions, and everyday problems. I feel that this doesn't fit with the idea that it is merely human wisdom; rather, it seems like the guidance of someone higher.

Personally, when I pray to Jehovah and, even if the situation doesn't change immediately, I receive peace, courage, or direction through publications or a timely talk, it becomes very clear to me that Jehovah is not an idea or a theory, but a real person who listens and responds in the way that strengthens us the most.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

I'm convinced by observing nature and how well-organized everything is. For example, the human body, the universe, and life itself show that someone very intelligent designed them. I'm also convinced by what the Bible says because its advice is wise and helpful to people.

I am convinced by the complexity and order found in nature. For example, the human body functions in incredible ways, and the universe is perfectly organized. It's difficult to believe that all of this came about by chance. This makes me feel certain that there is a wise and powerful Creator.

I am convinced by how the Bible has helped so many people change their lives for the better. Its advice is practical and always works. That shows me that it is not just an ordinary book, but one that comes from Jehovah, who knows us and wants what is best for us.

Mention which biblical texts convince you of the following:

Jehovah loves you.

1 John 4:10. This verse touches my heart because it shows that Jehovah’s love didn’t begin with us; it began with him. He loved us first, even knowing our weaknesses and struggles. This helps us understand that Jehovah isn’t waiting for us to be perfect to love us. He sees our effort, knows our limitations, and treats us like a loving father who understands his child with patience and tenderness.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

One text that convinces me is 1 Peter 5, which says that Jehovah cares about us. That makes me feel that he loves me and that I matter to him. Also, John 3:16, which shows that God loves people very much.

I am reassured by the knowledge that Jehovah is personally interested in me. For example, when I pray, I feel peace and tranquility, and that makes me feel that he hears me. This shows me that he is not a distant God, but a loving Father who cares for each one of us.

It encourages me to know that Jehovah is patient and understanding. Even when we make mistakes, he doesn't abandon us, but helps us to improve. That makes me very grateful, because it shows how much he loves us and wants us to succeed.

Jehovah will always help you.

Psalm 55:22. When I read “Cast your burden on Jehovah and he will sustain you,” I feel relief, because Jehovah doesn't promise that there will never be problems, but he does promise something precious: that he will not leave us alone to carry the burden. Sometimes the situation doesn't change immediately, but the experience changes completely, because Jehovah sustains us, gives us strength when we can't go on anymore, and helps us to keep going without breaking down.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

One text that encourages me is Isaiah 41:10, where Jehovah promises to help and strengthen us. That gives me confidence, because I know I am never alone. Also, Psalm 55:22, which says that Jehovah sustains us when we are worried.

This gives me great peace of mind, because we all go through problems and difficult times. Knowing that Jehovah is willing to help us gives me strength to keep going. He can give us encouragement, wisdom, and peace when we need it most.

It helps me to know that Jehovah uses different means to support us, such as the Bible, prayer, and the congregation. Through these tools, he guides us and gives us the support we need to face any difficulty.

You are in the people of God.

1 Peter 2:9, 10. These verses describe a group that Jehovah considers his own, a special possession, a united spiritual nation with a clear mission: to proclaim his excellencies. That helps me to identify God’s people today.

When we see an organization that honors Jehovah’s name, preaches the Kingdom throughout the earth, and strives to remain clean in a very immoral world, these characteristics become apparent. Then we realize that we are not here by chance. We are part of something that Jehovah recognizes as his own, and that provides great reassurance.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

One passage that resonates with me is 1 Peter 2:9, which says that God's people are special and belong to him. That makes me happy to be part of his people. Also, John 13:35, which explains that love identifies true servants of God.

It makes me very happy to know that I am part of Jehovah's people. No matter the country or language, all of Jehovah's servants are united by love and faith. This shows that Jehovah is guiding his people.

I am also encouraged by the genuine love that exists among the brothers. They are always willing to help and support one another. This makes me feel protected and secure, and it confirms that I am in the right place among Jehovah's people.
