Start conversations (3 mins.) PUBLIC PREACHING. Invite the person to the meeting (lmd lesson 3 point 3).
Setting: During the cart-based witnessing, a person approaches, interested in a publication related to financial problems and the anxiety they cause. The publisher reassures her with a Bible verse that says we should not worry about tomorrow, because each day has enough trouble of its own, and takes the opportunity to invite her to a meeting.
Publisher: Hi, I see you noticed the magazine article. It really affects us all, doesn't it? It seems like every time we go to the market, our money goes less and less.
Assistant: Ugh, don't even get me started! It's unbelievable how expensive everything is. You work and work, but you barely make ends meet. It's so stressful.
Publisher: I completely understand. That feeling of insecurity, of not knowing if we'll be able to cover basic expenses tomorrow, is very stressful. It's exhausting having to do the math all the time, don't you think?
Assistant: Exactly. Sometimes I can't sleep thinking about debts.
Publisher: You know what? You're not the only one who feels this way. That's why this magazine has helped so many people. It not only gives money-saving tips, but also explains how to stay calm when we can't control our finances.
There is a text in the Bible that helps me a lot, in Matthew 6:34. It says: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
This doesn't mean the problems disappear, but it helps us avoid carrying the burden of tomorrow today.
Assistant: It's hard not to get anxious, but you're right: stress doesn't pay the bills.
Publisher: That's true. Precisely because we all need practical advice, I wanted to invite her to our meetings.
Assistant: Oh, yes. What's it about?
Publisher: It's a meeting that all Jehovah's Witnesses hold every week. There, we not only talk about how to deal with financial problems, but also about things that help us live better lives. Our meetings are open to the public and are free of charge. There is no collection taken and no fees.
Assistant: Oh, that's wonderful. Yes, of course, I'll attend. Thank you so much for the invitation. Actually, I know exactly where your salon is. It's very close to me. I even walk past it every day on my way home.
Publisher: That's great news! It's a wonderful coincidence that it's on your route. So now you know exactly where we are. This Sunday, at 9 a.m., we'll be holding one of our conferences. I'd be delighted to see you there.
