APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, February 16-22, 2026, Start conversations: INFORMAL PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 3, point 5). Prepared Assignment.
Start conversations (4 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. (lmd lesson 3 point 5).
Setting: During work, the publisher helps a colleague, who is surprised by his helpful and friendly attitude and asks why. The publisher thanks him and explains that studying the Bible has taught him to treat others as he would like to be treated, leaving open the possibility of a future conversation.
Publisher: [Name], I see you still have a lot to organize for this afternoon's meeting. Don't worry, I've already finished mine. Lend me those folders. I'll file and staple them while you finish the report. That way, we can make sure you leave on time today.
Assistant: Oh, you have no idea how much you've helped me! I was about to collapse. Seriously, thank you so much.
Publisher: You're welcome, that's what we're here for.
Assistant: You know, I'm really impressed by your attitude. You're always willing to help with a smile, even under a lot of pressure. You're so kind. I really wonder why? Not many people offer their help like that these days.
Publisher: Thank you so much for your kind words, [name]. I'm so glad I could help. The truth is, I wasn't always like this, but studying the Bible has helped me. I've learned that being a good coworker isn't just about doing your job, but about treating others the way you'd like to be treated.
Assistant: Does the Bible really teach that? I thought it was an old rulebook.
Publisher: Actually, it's very practical. For example, there's a verse that really motivates me to be helpful. It's in Hebrews, chapter 13, verse 16. Look what it says: “And do not forget to do good and to share what you have with others, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” This verse teaches me that when I help someone, I'm not only being a good coworker, but I'm also doing something that pleases God. And knowing that He notices these little details motivates me to be kind to everyone here at work.
Assistant: How interesting. I'd never thought of it as something that pleases God. I just thought it was about being a good person.
Publisher: When you discover that God has feelings and values what we do, the work becomes lighter. If you'd like, another time I can show you how the Bible also gives us advice on how to avoid stressing so much about difficult deadlines. Does that sound good?
Assistant: I'd love that. Thanks again for your help.
