APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, February 23-March 1, 2026, Start conversations: INFORMAL PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 4, point 3). Prepared Assignment.
Start conversations (2 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. Find a way to tell the person something you recently learned in a meeting (lmd lesson 4 point 3).
Setting: During work, the publisher initiates a conversation with a colleague who highlights his qualities, such as being respectful and polite. The publisher mentions that in one of their meetings they discussed the importance of being respectful and kind and, using a Bible verse, shows him that we are light and that light cannot be in darkness.
Publisher:Hello, [name], how are you?
Assistant:I'm fine, thank you. It's great that we're working together today. I like your personality. You're respectful and polite. You always say hello and are willing to help your coworkers. That can't be said of some of my colleagues. You make me feel like I can count on you for anything.
Publisher:Thank you, [name]. You know, this weekend, at one of our meetings, they talked about the importance of being respectful and kind to those around us.
Assistant:That sounds interesting. What did they say at that meeting?
Publisher:They explained to us that being respectful and kind doesn't mean we have to agree with everything, but rather that we should treat others with kindness and respect, even when we don't share their opinion. I thought this was very important, because sometimes it's easy to lose patience and not treat others as we should.
Assistant:Yes, that's true. What else did they explain?
Publisher:They explained that a lack of respect and kindness is a common problem in our society, but that, as Christians, we must be different. They told us that we must be an example of love and respect for others.
Assistant:Yes, that's correct. What else did they mention?
Publisher:The Bible says we should be the light of the world. Look at what Matthew 5:14 says: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” It’s as if Jesus were saying that when we come to know God, a light is kindled within us, and that light cannot be hidden. We must let it shine through our actions and words, being respectful and kind to others.
Assistant:Ah, I see. So, they can't treat people badly.
Publisher:Exactly. We are light, and light cannot exist in darkness. We must be a reflection of God in everything we do, and that includes being respectful and kind to others, even those we don't like.
