Jehovah deeply values ​​every effort we make in caring for a loved one. Although others may not always see the sacrifice, he sees our tears, our weariness, and our love. The Bible says that caring for others is like making a loan to Jehovah, and he promises to repay it.

Furthermore, Jehovah understands the silent pain we sometimes feel and cherishes every tear. Even if we smile outwardly, Jehovah knows what we carry within, as he demonstrated when he said he had seen the suffering of his people. Knowing that Jehovah appreciates and rewards our efforts gives us strength to keep going.

3. Why must it have been difficult for Abraham and Sarah to take care of Terah?

Caring for Terah must have been difficult for Abraham and Sarah, because he was very old and their journey was long and exhausting. They traveled some 960 km (600 miles) in very harsh conditions, probably riding animals, which must have been especially uncomfortable for someone of his age. Even so, they cared for him with love. No doubt there were times of extreme fatigue, but Jehovah sustained them.

This account teaches us that caring for someone can exhaust even faithful people, and that does not mean spiritual weakness. Jehovah knows our limitations and, just as he promises at Psalm 55:22, he gives us the strength we need when we cast our burdens on him.

Many caregivers lose their joy because they try to take on more than they can handle. In contrast, when we acknowledge our limitations and trust that Jehovah can use others to support us, we protect both our health and our joy.

10. Why do caregivers need to have discernment? (Proverbs 19:11).

Insight helps the caregiver avoid taking things personally when difficult situations arise. Proverbs 19:11 says that insight makes one patient and allows one to overlook offenses.

Many illnesses change a person's character or behavior, causing someone who is normally affectionate to become irritable or demanding. Being perceptive means understanding that, often, it's not the person speaking, but the illness. Learning about what your loved one is going through helps you react with calm and compassion.

The example of King David, mentioned in Psalm 132:4-5, shows that worshipping Jehovah was his priority despite his many responsibilities. Likewise, a caregiver needs daily time to talk to Jehovah, ask for his strength, and find comfort in his Word.

Constant prayer acts as a true emotional lifeline. When we nurture our relationship with Jehovah, he gives us the inner peace and strength we need to continue lovingly caring for others.

12. Why do caregivers need to set aside time to take care of their health?

Taking care of one's health is essential for caregivers to keep going without burning out. Sometimes, due to lack of time, nutrition, rest, or exercise are neglected, but this eventually takes a physical and emotional toll.

Ephesians 5:15, 16 encourages us to use our time wisely, and that includes taking care of ourselves. Getting enough sleep, eating healthy food, and getting some exercise helps reduce stress and keep our minds clear.

In addition, finding small moments to enjoy pleasant activities also helps to maintain joy. Jehovah does not want us to burn out. He wants us to care for others, but also to care for ourselves.

Thinking about the future that Jehovah promises helps us to better endure present difficulties and to keep joy alive while we wait for that beautiful day.

If there is a caregiver in the congregation, we can help them in a practical and loving way. Galatians 6:2 encourages us to bear one another’s burdens. Offering to care for the person being cared for for a while allows the caregiver to rest or run errands.

Even a brief visit can make a big difference. In some cases, organizing shifts can greatly ease the burden. These gestures demonstrate genuine Christian love and make the caregiver feel supported and valued.

We don't always need vast resources; sometimes, time and willingness are the greatest gifts. In this way, we reflect Jehovah's love and compassion.

17. How can we help caregivers during meetings?

During meetings, caregivers may feel distracted or exhausted because they are focused on their loved one. We can help by offering to sit with the person they are caring for, allowing them to concentrate better and receive spiritual nourishment.

If the person is unable to leave home, we can also accompany them and connect to the meeting from there, so the caregiver can attend in person. These acts of support show consideration and sensitivity.

Meetings are an important source of encouragement, and helping the caregiver benefit from them demonstrates practical Christian love. Sometimes, a small gesture during the meeting can mean a great deal to someone carrying a heavy responsibility.

In addition to practical help, caregivers need constant encouragement. Proverbs 27:23 highlights the importance of showing interest in the well-being of our brothers and sisters. Elders can shepherd them regularly, but all of us can contribute with kind words and heartfelt prayers. Telling them that we appreciate their efforts can greatly strengthen them.

We can also ask Jehovah to continue sustaining them and helping them maintain their joy, as mentioned at 2 Corinthians 1:11. Knowing that others are praying for them reminds them that they are not alone. Encouragement and prayer are powerful forms of spiritual support that Jehovah greatly values.

We look forward with confidence to the day when Jehovah will eliminate sickness, pain, and death forever. Revelation 21:3, 4 promises that he will wipe away every tear. Physical limitations and emotional exhaustion will be a thing of the past, and the lame will climb like a deer.

This hope gives us strength to keep going today. Until that day arrives, Jehovah does not leave us alone; he accompanies us and gives us the strength we need to endure with patience and joy, as Colossians 1:11 says. Knowing what awaits us helps us to maintain a positive attitude and not give up.
