Who can find a competent wife? She is worth much more than corals (Prov. 31:10).

Although marriage is not essential for happiness, many brothers and sisters of all ages have that desire. Of course, before taking any steps, you must be prepared spiritually, financially, and emotionally (1 Cor. 7:36).

It is important to be clear about the kind of person you want to marry. Otherwise, you might miss out on someone who could be a good match or you might start a relationship with someone who isn't right for you. Of course, a prerequisite is that the person be a baptized Witness (1 Cor. 7:39). But that doesn't mean that just any baptized person will be suitable for you. You would do well to ask yourself: “What are my goals in life? What qualities must the person I'm looking for have? Are my expectations reasonable?” w24.05 20 pars. 1, 3

What do we mean when we talk about dating?

The truth is, it isn't always easy to find the right person to marry (Prov. 31:10). Even when you find someone you'd like to get to know better, starting a courtship may not be easy. In this article, we'll see what can help a single person find a suitable partner and begin a courtship. We'll also discuss what the rest of the congregation can do to support those who want to get married.

What have some single people included in their prayers?

If you want to get married, you have probably already prayed to Jehovah about it (Phil. 4:6). Of course, Jehovah has not promised anyone that he will find them a mate. But he is interested in your feelings and needs, and he can help you in your search. So keep telling him what you want and how you feel (Ps. 62:8). Ask him for patience and wisdom (Jas. 1:5). A single brother in the United States named Johnc explains what he includes in his prayers: “I tell Jehovah about the qualities I look for in a sister. I ask him to let opportunities arise to meet someone. And I also ask him to help me cultivate qualities to be a good husband.” A sister in Sri Lanka named Tanya says: “I ask Jehovah to help me be faithful, positive, and happy while I continue searching for the right person.” What if time passes and you still haven’t found anyone? Even so, Jehovah promises that he will give you everything you need in a physical and emotional sense (Ps. 55:22).

What will help single people to meet people who love Jehovah? (1 Corinthians 15:58)

The Bible encourages us to be “busy in the Lord’s work” (read 1 Corinthians 15:58). If you follow this counsel, you will have opportunities to spend time with many brothers and sisters. Not only will you enjoy good friendships, but you will also have opportunities to meet other single people who are also focused on serving Jehovah. Furthermore, since you will be doing your best to please Jehovah, you will be truly happy.
