APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, January 26-February 1, 2026, Start conversations: INFORMAL PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 1, point 5). Prepared Assignment.

Start conversations (2 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. Find out what topics the person is interested in and arrange to talk again at another time (lmd lesson 1 point 5).

Setting: During an informal conversation at a restaurant, the publisher shows genuine interest in a person and their work. Through questions about their personal hobbies, a common interest emerges: how they treat their families. The publisher respectfully introduces the Bible and suggests continuing the conversation at a more relaxed time, agreeing on a specific day to discuss it further.

Publisher: Hi, how are you? Has it been a busy day at the restaurant?

Assistant: Ah, yes, it's full today.

Publisher: Yes, that's true. And what do you think of the work so far?

Assistant: Okay, not bad. I like dealing with people.

Publisher: Great! I also enjoy meeting people. Do you have any hobbies or anything you like to do outside of work?

Assistant: Yes, I like to read and spend time with my family. I think it's very important not to neglect them, so I always make time for them.

Publisher: That's interesting. The Bible has a lot to say about family and how we should treat those we love. Would you like to learn more about it?

Assistant: Yes, that sounds good to me.

Publisher: How about we pick a day this week or next to sit down and chat a bit more? Would Thursday or Friday work for you?

Assistant: Thursday, which is the day when fewer people come; that way we can talk better.
