LIVING AS CHRISTIANS, December 22-28, 2025, Are we fair when we judge? Analysis and Answers.
Are we fair when we judge? (15 mins.) Analysis with the audience.
Play the video "Lessons from The Watchtower: Don't Judge by Appearances." Then ask:
What prejudices are mentioned in the video?
Prejudices such as judging by appearance, skin color, culture, nationality, age, or money are mentioned.
If we were to allow any prejudice to creep into the congregation, what negative effect might it have?
It could bring division to the congregation. Groups could form, such as those of people of the same skin color, the same nationality, the elderly, or those with more money.
What helped the brothers in the video not to judge by appearances?
The brothers in the video were helped by meditating on biblical examples, such as those of Solomon and Peter, as well as on the content of the August 2018 Watchtower, which mentions that “prejudices can be so deeply ingrained in us that sometimes we don’t even realize it.”
This motivates us to examine ourselves, open our hearts wide, and invite brothers and sisters of different races or backgrounds to our homes or for meals. Furthermore, we should not be prejudiced against younger brothers and sisters when recommending them for an appointment as elders, nor should we judge others based on their wealth, since Jehovah does not choose his friends based on material possessions.
What lessons did you learn from this Watchtower article?
We learn that Jehovah does not judge people by their race or nationality; he does not consider their age to determine whether they can be his servants, nor how much money they have to determine whether they can be his friend. Our friendship with Jehovah is based on the love we feel for him. We look to the love and faith that our brothers and sisters have for Jehovah.
