Start conversations (2 mins.) PUBLIC PREACHING. Use a tract to start a conversation in a business territory (lmd lesson 1 point 4).
Setting: During public witnessing, the publisher has a brief, respectful conversation with a person who is busy with their business, with the purpose of sharing Bible information through a tract and opening the opportunity for future conversations.
Publisher: Excuse me, do you have a moment to talk about something important? Although I notice you're a little busy with your business, I'll be very brief; what I have to say won't take more than 2 minutes.
Assistant: Yes, of course, tell me.
Publisher: I would like to give you this tract, which has as its theme: What is the Bible to you? Have you ever thought about this?
Assistant: Ah, the Bible… yes, I've heard of it, but I haven't read much of it.
Publisher: I understand. The Bible is a very special book; it is the Word of God and contains the truth about God's life and purpose.
Assistant: I think it's a book of stories and lessons, but I'm not sure exactly what it is.
Publisher: The Bible is much more than a storybook. It's a book that tells us about God's creation, the history of humankind, and the promise of a better future. It also teaches us how we can live according to biblical principles and how we can treat others with respect and compassion. How about I come back another day, when I'm a little less busy, so we can continue this conversation?
Assistant: Sure, that sounds good to me.
