Watchtower Study, Article 32, October 13-19, 2025, How Jehovah Helps Us Endure, Answers.

“The God of all undeserved kindness [...] will establish you, he will make you strong, he will set you on a firm foundation” (1 Pet. 5:10).

1. Why do we need to endure, but what help do we have? (1 Peter 5:10)

We all feel that life isn't easy these days. Some brothers and sisters are struggling with chronic illnesses, others have lost someone they love, and still others face opposition from family members or even authorities. As Jesus said in Matthew 10:36-37, these are trials that can truly wear us down, but the beauty of it is that we don't have to face them alone.

Jehovah promises us, in 1 Peter 5:10, that he himself will make us strong, give us stability, and help us stand firm. This gives us great confidence, because we know that, no matter how great the difficulty, Jehovah will not abandon us. He will always be there to give us the endurance we need.

2. How do we Christians endure?

This point is important because it makes it clear that we alone could not endure so much. Enduring, as the paragraph says, is not just resisting, but doing so without losing hope, despite problems, persecution, or temptations.

The reality is that we don't have that strength on our own, but because Jehovah gives us power beyond what is normal, as 2 Corinthians 4:7 says. This means that even though we are weak and human, Jehovah gives us an extra strength that cannot be explained naturally.

So if we continue to depend on him, we will be able to persevere without becoming discouraged, because it is Jehovah who sustains us, not our own strength.

THE PRAYER

3. Why do we say that being able to communicate with Jehovah is a true miracle?

The truth is, if you think about it, being able to speak to Jehovah is a miracle. We are imperfect, we have flaws, and yet, he allows us to approach him and speak to him at any time, as Hebrews 4:16 says.

Whether we're at home, at work, or even in prison, like Jonah or Paul, Jehovah always hears. And the most incredible thing is that he understands even what we can't express, as Romans 8:26-27 mentions.

Sometimes we don't even know how to put into words what we feel, but Jehovah captures it. This shows us how much he loves us. Therefore, more than just a privilege, prayer is an extraordinary gift that helps us continue to endure each day.

4. Why is it right to ask Jehovah for help in enduring?

Sometimes we may wonder: Does Jehovah want us to ask for endurance? And the Bible makes it clear that he does. 1 John 5:14 says that we can ask for anything that is in accordance with his will, and enduring is certainly acceptable, because when we do, Jehovah responds to Satan's challenge.

2 Chronicles 16:9 also says that Jehovah seeks to show his strength to those who serve him wholeheartedly. So not only is it right, but Jehovah is pleased when we ask him. Isaiah 41:10 and Luke 11:13 show that he is eager to help us. This gives us great peace of mind because we know Jehovah wants us to endure and is willing to strengthen us.

5. How does prayer help us achieve peace of mind? (Isaiah 26:3)

Something that impresses us greatly is that when we pray, Jehovah gives us a peace that cannot be found in any other way. Philippians 4:7 says it is a peace that goes beyond what we can understand.

People in the world try many things, including meditation techniques that involve blanking the mind, but this is dangerous because it exposes us to demons.

Instead, Jehovah gives us real and constant peace, as Isaiah 26:3 says. Often, that peace comes because, when we pray, he helps us remember scriptures that show us how much he loves us, such as Psalm 62:1-2. So, even if the problem doesn't disappear, we still feel that our hearts are protected.

6. How can we get the most out of prayer? (See also the image.)

Prayer can be even more powerful when we learn to use it at all times. For example, if we are going through something difficult, we can pray to cast our burden on Jehovah, as Psalm 55:22 says, and ask for peace and wisdom to act wisely.

It's also important not only to ask for His patience, but to thank Him for all He gives us, as Philippians 4:6 teaches. We should also be attentive to how He helps us and acknowledge it.

Sometimes, in the midst of a problem, Jehovah gives us a way out or places someone in our path, and it's good to thank him for that. This prevents problems from blinding us and preventing us from seeing his blessings.

ILLUSTRATION

An older brother sits in his home praying during the winter. He has an open Bible on his lap and a bottle of medicine on a table next to him.

When we pray, we speak to Jehovah; when we read the Bible, Jehovah speaks to us. (See paragraph 6.)

THE BIBLE

7. How does Bible study help us endure?

The beauty of Bible study is that it always reminds us that Jehovah is on our side. For example, in Matthew 6:8, Jesus said that our Father already knows what we need before we ask Him. And if Jesus, who knows Jehovah better than anyone, assured us of this, we can fully trust that. So, when we are suffering, we can feel peace knowing that Jehovah is not indifferent, but already knows what we need and will support us.

Furthermore, the Bible is full of promises that strengthen us, such as Psalm 94:19, which speaks of how Jehovah comforts us in the midst of our troubles. As we study and meditate on these promises, we feel renewed strength to endure.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT

As we study and learn from the Bible, we begin to understand how Jehovah helps us every day. He gives us strength and comfort to face and endure the trials we face in this world.

8. a) Give an example of a biblical principle that helps us endure.

A very practical principle is Matthew 6:34, which encourages us not to worry about tomorrow, but to focus on today's problems. When you're in a difficult situation, it's easy to get caught up in the "what ifs" of the future.

But Jesus' advice teaches us to live one day at a time, which makes the burdens more bearable. It's as if Jehovah were telling us: "Don't try to carry tomorrow and today at the same time."

When we put this principle into practice, we feel we can endure better because we reduce anxiety and trust that Jehovah will help us with each day in its time.

8. b) What will help us remember Bible principles when we need them?

Something that helps us a lot is making a habit of reading and meditating on the Bible every day. Proverbs 2:6, 7 says that the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and discernment.

So, if we fill our minds with its principles, when a moment of anguish arrives or we have to make a difficult decision, it will be easier to remember them.

It's similar to learning a song: if you repeat it many times, it will come to you when you least expect it. The same thing happens with the Word of God. The more we read and meditate on it, the more likely we are to remember the beginning just when we need it.

9. What effect does meditating on biblical stories have on us?

Meditating on Bible stories is like seeing living examples that Jehovah does keep his promises. Hebrews 11:32-34 mentions many faithful servants who, though ordinary people, accomplished great things because they trusted in Jehovah. And James 5:17 reminds us that Elijah was a man like us, with weaknesses, yet Jehovah used him mightily.

When we meditate on these stories, we feel that Jehovah can also be our refuge and strength. Furthermore, thinking about their endurance encourages us to imitate them, as James 5:10, 11 advises. It's like seeing others who have already run this race and finished successfully. This motivates us to continue with confidence in Jehovah.

10. How can we get the most out of the Bible?

A practical way is to read it every day, even if it's just a short passage. Many believers keep a list of verses that strengthen them to review when needed. Reading the daily text can also give us a boost of encouragement for the entire day.

A particularly striking example is that of a sister named Mari. She cared for her father and mother, both of whom were ill with cancer at the same time, a very difficult situation. But she said that what helped her endure was reading and meditating on the text of "Let Us Examine" every morning. This kept her focused on Jehovah and not just on the pain of the moment. This shows that the Bible, when used properly, is a constant source of strength.

OUR BROTHERS

11. Why does it encourage us to know that our brothers endure their trials?

It's very encouraging to think that we are not alone in the circumstances we face. First Peter 5:9 says that the whole brotherhood in the world faces similar sufferings. This helps us because when we see other brothers in different parts of the world facing difficult trials and yet remaining faithful, we say to ourselves, "If they can do it, I can too."

Acts 14:22 confirms that we must endure many hardships to enter the Kingdom, so it's no wonder we face trials. But seeing how our brothers endure gives us confidence that we too can endure with Jehovah's help. It's a comfort to know we are part of a brotherhood that fights together.

12. What can we do for one another? (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4)

We can do so much. Jehovah himself is the “God of all comfort,” as 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 says, and he teaches us to comfort one another. Paul experienced this firsthand when he was under house arrest. Several brothers visited him, helped him, and encouraged him, and he even mentioned them by name in his letters.

This teaches us that simple gestures, such as a visit, a message, or even a small favor, can greatly encourage someone who is suffering. The same thing happens today: when we support our brothers and sisters in their trials, we give them strength to endure, and at the same time, we also feel joy and strength. It is a mutual gift that Jehovah gives us.

13. What helped a sister named Maya endure?

Maya's case in Russia is a good example of how sisterhood sustains us. She was searched at home, put on trial for her faith, and at one point, she felt she couldn't take it anymore. But just then, her brothers called her, wrote to her, and expressed how much they loved her.

That's what lifted her up. She herself said she always knew she was part of a large, loving family, but since 2020, she's realized it in a very real way. This makes us think that sometimes, it's not necessary to solve a sibling's problem; just make them feel they're not alone. That sincere affection can be what gives them the strength to keep going.

14. How can we make the most of our siblings' help? (See also the image.)

The most important thing is to stay close to the congregation, especially when we're going through trials. Isaiah 32:2 describes the elders as a refuge from the storm, so asking for their help is crucial.

But we must also remember that receiving isn't everything, since our brothers and sisters also have difficulties, and when we give, we feel strengthened. Acts 20:35 says that there is more happiness in giving than in receiving, and it's true: when we help others, our own burden becomes lighter.

So, making the most of fellowship is both seeking support and providing it. This relationship of giving and receiving makes the congregation a safe haven and helps us all continue to endure.

ILLUSTRATION

The older brother in the previous image sits in his house in spring. He's smiling and chatting with two little girls and their parents. Next to his cane are a few bottles of medicine. One of the girls shows him a drawing she made of Paradise.

Let us stay close to our spiritual family. (See paragraph 14.)

OUR HOPE

15. How did hope help Jesus, and how does it help us? (Hebrews 12:2)

Jesus is the best example of how hope gives strength. On the hardest day of his life, when he suffered and died, he was able to endure because, as Hebrews 12:2 says, he had his eyes set on future joy. He knew that his faithfulness would help vindicate Jehovah's name and that he would soon return to his Father in heaven to rule with the anointed.

That hope sustained him. In the same way, we endure because we trust in Jehovah's promises, as Romans 15:13 tells us. Thinking about living forever in the New World motivates us to endure current problems. Knowing that all this is temporary and that something much better is coming gives us strength to endure.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT

Jesus kept his hope in the promise of his Father, Jehovah. He knew that if he remained faithful, he would receive many blessings. We today can also endure all trials and oppositions if we keep our hope in the promise Jehovah has made to us.

16. How did hope help a sister, and what do you learn from what she says?

The example of Alla, a sister from Russia, is very encouraging. Her husband was arrested and placed in pretrial detention, a very difficult situation, but she said that what helped her not to become discouraged was praying and meditating on the wonderful future that Jehovah promises. She understood that the trials would not last forever, that Jehovah would be victorious, and so would they.

We learn that if we want to endure, we need to think more about the end of our problems than about the problem itself. Alla demonstrates that hope is not simply positive thinking; it's a conviction that gives us real peace and strength. This motivates us to imitate her and always look forward to the new world Jehovah promises us.

17. How do we show that we value our hope? (See also the image.)

The best way is to spend time thinking about it. If we imagine ourselves in the new world enjoying the perfect life Jehovah promises, our current trials seem smaller, as 2 Corinthians 4:17 says. This meditation strengthens us.

Another way to demonstrate this hope is to share it with others. Many people wander aimlessly, not knowing what will happen to this world, and it's an act of love to share Jehovah's purpose with them. Sometimes a simple conversation is enough to spark their interest.

In this way, we not only strengthen ourselves by speaking of hope, but we also help others to know the comfort that Jehovah offers us.

ILLUSTRATION

The older brother sits at home in the fall. He thinks about the picture of Paradise open on his tablet. Next to him are a walker and several bottles of medication.

Let us take time to think about the wonderful future Jehovah has promised us. (See paragraph 17.)

18. Why can we trust Jehovah’s promises?

We can trust because Jehovah is able to fulfill everything he promises. After many trials, Job said in Job 42:2 that he understood that nothing is impossible for Jehovah. This assurance helps us endure.

The paragraph illustrates this with the example of a sick woman. Even if she isn't cured yet, if a good doctor explains how he's going to treat her, she feels relieved because she has hope.

The same is true for us. Even though we remain in this troubled system, we know that Jehovah, "the experienced physician," already has the solution: the new world and paradise. This certainty gives us strength to continue forward, because we trust that what Jehovah has promised is sure and will soon be fulfilled.

19. What do we need to endure?

To endure, it's not enough to simply want to. We need to use the aids Jehovah gives us. As we've seen, there are four: prayer, the Bible, fellowship, and hope. Philippians 4:13 says we can do anything through Jehovah, but that means taking advantage of what he makes available to us.

If we pray sincerely, study and meditate on the Bible, seek the support of our brothers and sisters, and keep our hope alive, then we will be able to withstand any trial. It's like having four pillars that sustain us in the midst of a storm.

Thus, Jehovah assures us that we will be able to remain steadfast until this world and its problems are gone. This trust in his gifts helps us endure with courage and faith.

EXPLAIN HOW THE FOLLOWING GIFTS FROM JEHOVAH HELP US TO ENDURE:

Prayer and the Bible

Prayer brings us closer to Jehovah and gives us peace when we open our hearts, and the Bible responds with guidance and comfort. Just as Philippians 4:6, 7 says, Jehovah gives us the strength and calm we need to endure.

Our brothers

The brothers and sisters are a tremendous support. Through their encouragement, prayers, and companionship, we feel Jehovah's love in person. This reminds us that we are not alone in our trials, just as Hebrews 10:24, 25 says.

Our hope

Hope makes us look beyond current problems and focus on Jehovah's sure promises, such as eternal life in a righteous world. This gives us strength to endure with joy, according to Romans 15:13.
