Strengthen your faith in the resurrection (15 mins.) Discussion with the audience.
Read John 11:21-24. Then ask:
How did Martha demonstrate that her faith in the resurrection was strong?
Martha demonstrated her faith in the resurrection when Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise again.” She confidently replied, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection.” This demonstrates Martha’s certainty that Jehovah wants and has the power to bring those who have died back to life.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Martha demonstrated that her faith in the resurrection was strong because, although her brother Lazarus had died, she trusted that whatever Jesus asked of God, He would grant it, including bringing her brother Lazarus back to life. She showed complete trust in God's promises and in Jehovah's power to fulfill them.
Martha demonstrated strong faith because, even though her brother had already died, she remained convinced that Jesus had the power to help him. She even told him that she knew Lazarus would be resurrected on the final day. This shows that she truly believed in the promise of the resurrection and trusted that Jehovah and Jesus could bring people back to life.
Martha didn't doubt Jesus or get angry with him for not coming sooner. Rather, she spoke to him with respect and confidence, demonstrating that her faith didn't depend on seeing immediate results. She was certain that the resurrection was a real promise, even though she hadn't yet seen it fulfilled.
She showed that her faith was strong because, in the midst of pain, she continued to believe that Jehovah could do something. This teaches me that having faith doesn't mean not feeling sadness, but rather continuing to trust in God even when things seem impossible.
How did Jehovah bless her for her faith? (John 11:38-44)
Jehovah blessed Martha's faith by allowing her to witness when Jesus, with the authority given to him by his Father, called Lazarus, and he rose and came out of the tomb. Martha saw "the glory of God," just as Jesus had told her. This shows that Jehovah not only gives us a future hope but also provides relief from our pain now, showing that he deeply understands our suffering.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Jehovah blessed Martha for her faith by allowing her to witness the resurrection of her brother Lazarus. Because of her faith, she was privileged to be an eyewitness when Jesus, through the authority given him by his Father, resurrected Lazarus after four days in the tomb. That blessing further strengthened her confidence in Jehovah's promises and confirmed that he has power over death.
Jehovah blessed her in a very special way. He allowed her to see with her own eyes how her brother Lazarus came back to life. Imagine the joy and excitement she felt when she hugged him again. Thanks to her faith, Martha not only saw an incredible miracle, but her trust in Jehovah also grew even stronger.
Jehovah rewarded her by allowing her to witness with her own eyes a miracle that confirmed everything she believed. Seeing her brother emerge alive from the grave greatly strengthened her faith and that of those present.
That blessing gave her a firmer hope for the future. Martha experienced firsthand that Jehovah keeps his promises, and this surely helped her to trust more in the future resurrection we all hope for.

Why do you treasure the hope of resurrection?
I cherish the hope of the resurrection because the Bible teaches that Jehovah not only has the power but also the desire to bring those who have died back to life. Jesus assured us in John 5:28, 29 that those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come forth. Knowing that death is like a temporary sleep and that Jehovah will “awaken” our loved ones gives me comfort and confidence in his love and power.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
I deeply cherish the hope of the resurrection because it is based on the promises of Jehovah, our faithful God, and only he has the power to give life and to restore it to those who have died. This hope comforts us deeply when we lose a loved one, as we trust that Jehovah will remember them and bring them back to life.
Because it gives me comfort to know that death isn't the end. Jehovah promises to bring back to life the people we've lost, just as he did with Lazarus. That hope helps me keep going when I feel sad or when I think about loved ones who have died. Knowing that I will be able to see them again gives me great peace and strength to remain faithful.
I cherish the hope of the resurrection because it makes me feel Jehovah's love. He doesn't want us to suffer because of death. By promising the resurrection, he shows us that he truly cares about us and wants us all to live happily ever after.
I value that hope because it gives meaning to my faith. No matter how difficult life is now, I know that Jehovah will fulfill what he has promised, and that gives me a reason to continue serving him with joy.
What can you do to keep your faith in the resurrection strong?
I can meditate on the stories where Jehovah brought people like Lazarus or the son of the widow of Zarephath back to life. As I read these accounts, I remember that Jehovah's promises are always fulfilled. As Romans 15:4 mentions, reading the Bible and meditating on its teachings helps us keep our hope alive and strong, even when we go through times of sadness or loss.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Meditating on Jehovah's promises and visualizing ourselves in that moment when we will see our loved ones again strengthens our hope.
Reading and meditating on the resurrection stories recorded in the Bible—such as those of Lazarus, Jairus's daughter, and Jesus himself—strengthens our conviction in Jehovah's power and will to restore life to our loved ones who have died.
We also constantly ask Jehovah in prayer to give us his Holy Spirit, which helps us “be certain of what is hoped for” (Hebrews 11:1). We ask him to help us keep that hope alive in our hearts.
I can strengthen my faith by studying the Bible more and thinking about examples like Martha's. She trusted that Jesus could raise her brother from the dead, and Jehovah blessed her for it. If I continue to learn from these stories and pray often, my faith in the resurrection will grow stronger.
To help my faith in the resurrection continue to grow, I can share this hope with others. When I share it, I remind myself of it, and this increases my trust in Jehovah.
One very important thing is not to let problems or sadness cause me to doubt. If I keep remembering what Jehovah has already done, such as raising Lazarus from the dead, it will be easier for me to trust that he will also fulfill his promise in the future.
