Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2025

Keep asking and it will be given to you, keep seeking and you will find, keep knocking and the door will be opened to you (Luke 11:9).

Do you need more patience? Ask Jehovah for it. Patience is part of the fruit of the spirit. (Gal. 5:22, 23) So we can ask Jehovah to give us holy spirit and to help us cultivate the qualities it produces. If we are going through a situation where we find it very difficult to be patient, let us keep asking for holy spirit. (Luke 11:13) We can also ask Jehovah to help us see things his way. And after you pray, do all you can to be patient every day. If you keep asking Jehovah for help and do your best to demonstrate this quality, you will gradually become more patient. It is also good to meditate on examples from the Bible. The Bible contains many stories of people who were patient. By meditating on these stories, we can learn how to demonstrate this quality.

How has Jehovah shown that he is patient?

In the Garden of Eden, Satan tarnished Jehovah's name and cast doubt on his rightful and loving rule. But Jehovah, rather than immediately destroying the liar, showed patience and self-control, knowing that it would take time to prove that his way of ruling is the best. While he waits, he endures the continued tarnishing of his name. On the other hand, because Jehovah is patient, millions have come to know him and have the opportunity to live forever. (2 Pet. 3:9, 15) When we consider all the good that has been accomplished because of Jehovah's patience, it will be easier to wait for his appointed time to bring about the end.

How did Jesus perfectly imitate his Father's patience when he was on Earth?

13 Jesus perfectly imitates his Father's patience, and that was clear when he was on earth. It certainly wasn't always easy for him to be patient, especially with the hypocritical scribes and Pharisees (John 8:25-27). But, like his Father, Jesus wasn't easily angered. He didn't respond with harsh words to his enemies' insults and provocations (1 Pet. 2:23). Rather, he endured trials patiently and without complaint. No wonder the Bible advises us: “Consider him who endured so many hostile words from sinners.” (Heb. 12:2, 3) With Jehovah's help, we too can patiently endure any trial that comes.

What do we learn from Abraham's patience? (Hebrews 6:15)

What will help us continue to wait patiently for the end to come? Perhaps we hoped it would already be here, and perhaps we think we won't see it with our own eyes. Well, let's consider Abraham's example. When Jehovah promised him, "I will make you into a great nation," Abraham was 75 years old and had no sons (Gen. 12:1-4).

But did Abraham see the fulfillment of this promise? Only in part. After crossing the Euphrates River, he had to wait 25 years. Then, miraculously, he became the father of Isaac. Sixty years later, his grandsons Esau and Jacob were born (read Hebrews 6:15). But Abraham didn't live to see his descendants become a great nation and inherit the Promised Land. Even so, this faithful man enjoyed a close friendship with his Creator (James 2:23).

And can you imagine how happy Abraham will be when he is resurrected? He will learn that, thanks to his faith and patience, all nations received a blessing. (Gen. 22:18) What do we learn? We may not see the fulfillment of all Jehovah's promises in our day. But if we are patient like Abraham, we can be sure that Jehovah will bless us now and much more in the new world. (Mark 10:29, 30)
