Start Conversations (3 mins.) PUBLIC PREACHING. Start a conversation with someone who seems sad (lmd lesson 3 point 4).
Setting: During public preaching, the publisher initiates a conversation with a person who is going through a difficult time and feels discouraged. He offers comfort through biblical principles that give them hope.
Publisher: Hello, my name is [name]. And what is your name?
Assistant: Hello, my name is [name].
Publisher: Mrs. [name], I notice you're a little sad. Is everything okay?
Assistant: Yes, I'm going through a difficult time. Everything seems to be going wrong in my life.
Publisher: I'm so sorry. Today I'm talking to people about how loving our Creator is, and I want you to know that you are not alone. There is someone who loves you and can give you hope. You know? Our Creator, Jehovah, tells us the following in His Word, the Bible. I'll read to you Jeremiah 29:11:
"For I know what I have in mind for you," declares Jehovah. "I want you to have peace, not calamity. I want to give you a future and a hope."
Assistant: That sounds nice, but how can I believe in that when everything seems to be going wrong?
Publisher: Well, it's not that everything will change overnight, but that you can find peace and hope in the midst of difficulties. The verse says that Jehovah God wants to give us peace, not calamity.
Assistant: It's just that I have many problems.
Publisher: The Bible tells us that these problems are temporary and will soon disappear. The promises of the Bible can give you a future and hope. These promises help us cope with problems now and have a positive attitude. They also reassure us that we can be happy forever.
Assistant: That would be excellent.
