APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, October 13-19, 2025, Start Conversations: PUBLIC PREACHING. (Making Disciples: A Work of Love, Lesson 2, point 4). Prepared Assignment.

Start conversations (2 mins.) PUBLIC PREACHING. Find out what topics the person is interested in and agree to talk again another time (LMD lesson 2, point 4).

Setting: During a public sermon, the publisher initiates a conversation with someone about climate change and the lack of love in the world, which ends with an invitation to continue the conversation about the hope the Bible offers.

Publisher: Hello how are you?

Assistant: Hi, I'm fine, very hot.

Publisher: Yes, there have been many changes in the climate, and now the heat is too much. The climate worries some people about the future of our planet. Aren't you worried too?

Assistant: Yes, it's a very important issue, but I'm more concerned about people's disinterest and the lack of unity in general.

Publisher: I understand what you're saying. Lack of empathy and indifference can be very damaging.

Assistant: People are too focused on their own lives and don't care about what's going on around them.

Publisher: Ultimately, people are self-centered, prioritizing their own needs and desires over those of others. Do you think anyone can change this?

Assistant: I think education and awareness are key.

Publisher: Do you know there is someone who will make people love each other?

Assistant: No, but I would like to know.

Publisher: What do you think if we meet again in two days?

Assistant: Sounds perfect to me. See you later.

OPTION 2

Setting: During a public sermon, the publisher offers a free publication to an interested person. The conversation centers on rising prices and economic hardship, reflecting concerns about money, work, and lack of time for family and friends. The publisher listens and shows understanding, and the two agree to meet again another time to continue the conversation.

Publisher: Hello, would you like a publication? You can take it for free.

Assistant: I'm struck by this one that talks about when prices go up.

Publisher: It's a very interesting topic that affects us all, isn't it?

Assistant: Yes. Every time I go to the supermarket, I'm shocked to see how much the prices of basic goods have risen. It's as if there's not enough money to cover anything. You have to work harder and harder to make ends meet, and you don't have time to spend with family or friends. It's as if we're running on a hamster wheel, trapped in an endless cycle of work and spending.

Publisher: Yes, I understand what you mean. Life can be very stressful when it comes to money and work.

Assistant: That's right. I think we had a very interesting conversation.

Publisher: Would you like to meet again another time to continue talking?

Assistant: Yes, I'd like to. What day are you here?

Publisher: I'm here every Tuesday and Thursday at this same time. If you'd like, we can meet again next Tuesday and talk a little more.

Assistant: Sure, fine. I'll stop by.
