A foolish woman is scandalous. She is ignorant (Prov. 9:13).

Everyone who hears the voice of the “foolish woman” must make a decision: accept her invitation or reject it. There are compelling reasons to avoid immoral sexual behavior. According to the book of Proverbs, the “foolish woman” says, “Stolen waters are sweet” (Prov. 9:17).

What do “stolen waters” represent? The Bible compares sexual relations within marriage to refreshing waters (Prov. 5:15-18). A man and woman who are legally married can enjoy appropriate sexual relations. But “stolen waters” are very different. They likely represent immoral sexual relations, which violate God's law.

People who practice sexual immorality usually do so secretly, just as a thief steals. These “stolen waters” may seem very sweet to those who think they are keeping their misconduct a secret. But they deceive themselves. Jehovah sees all things; he is not deceived. There is nothing more bitter than losing his approval; there is nothing sweet about it. (1 Cor. 6:9, 10)

According to Proverbs 9:13-18, How do the guests of “the foolish woman” end up?

Let's begin by talking about the invitation of "the foolish woman" (read Proverbs 9:13-18). She brazenly cries, "Let everyone inexperienced come here!" Thus she invites the inexperienced to enjoy a good meal. And how do those who enter her house end up? "There are those who are powerless in death." This isn't the first time Proverbs has spoken to us about such a woman. In previous chapters, it warns us of the dangers of "the wayward woman" and "the immoral woman." It tells us, "Her house sinks into death" (Proverbs 2:11-19). Proverbs 5:3-10 also tells us to beware of another "wayward woman." It tells us of her: "Her feet go down to death."

What decision must those who hear the voice of “the foolish woman” make?

Everyone who hears the voice of the "foolish woman" must make a decision: accept her invitation or reject it. When might something like this happen? For example, when we are tempted to commit a sexual sin or if a pornographic image suddenly appears before us. What decision will we make in that situation?

Why is watching pornography so bad?

Pornography is a widespread trap. Some people think there's nothing wrong with viewing it, but that's not true. Pornography is harmful, degrading, and addictive. Immoral images are not easily erased from the mind; they are difficult to forget. Furthermore, pornography doesn't kill evil desires; on the contrary, it fuels them (Col. 3:5; James 1:14, 15). In fact, many who view pornography eventually fall into sexual immorality.
