Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2025
Monday, September 29, 2025
Happy is he whose sin is forgiven, whose sin is covered (Ps. 32:1).
Think about why you dedicated yourself and were baptized. You took those steps because you wanted to stand with Jehovah. Remember what helped convince you that this is the truth. You came to know Jehovah, to see him as your heavenly Father, and to respect and love him. Your faith grew, and it motivated you to repent of your sins. You stopped doing the things Jehovah hates and began doing what he loves. You felt great relief when you saw God forgiving you. (Ps. 32:2) You made it your mission to go to meetings and share with others the wonderful things you were learning. Now that you are a dedicated, baptized Christian, you are walking the path that leads to life and are determined not to abandon it. (Matt. 7:13, 14) Be firm and immovable, always determined to love Jehovah and obey his standards.
Why do you want to remain firm?
As long as this system exists, we must continue to struggle to stand firm. (1 Tim. 6:11, 12; 2 Pet. 3:17) We must not be shaken by persecution, subtle pressures, human thinking, false reasoning, or distractions. (Eph. 4:14) Let us remain firm and immovable, always determined to love Jehovah and obey his standards. At the same time, we must be reasonable. In the next article, we will see that Jehovah and Jesus are the most reasonable people alive and how to imitate them.
How does studying and meditating on God's Word help us?
Let us study God's Word and meditate on it. A tree needs deep roots to stand firm. In the same way, we need faith rooted in God's Word to remain firm. As a tree grows, so do its roots, taking a stronger hold of the earth. When we study and meditate, our faith grows stronger, and we become more convinced that God's teachings are the best. (Col. 2:6, 7) Let us meditate on how Jehovah's servants of old benefited from his instruction, counsel, and protection.
For example, Ezekiel watched carefully as the angel measured the temple he had seen in a vision. This vision not only strengthened Ezekiel’s faith, but it also teaches us practical lessons about respecting Jehovah’s standards for pure worship. (Ezek. 40:1-4; 43:10-12) It also helps us to take time to study and meditate on the deep things of God’s Word.
How did having a steadfast heart help Bob? (Psalm 112:7)
Let us have a firm heart. In a song, King David said he would never stop loving Jehovah. He expressed it this way: “My heart is firm, O God.” (Ps. 57:7) We too can have a firm heart, one that trusts Jehovah completely. (Read Psalm 112:7.) Let’s return to the example of Bob, discussed in paragraph 9. How did having a firm heart help him? When he was told that blood would be available just in case, he replied that if there was even the slightest possibility of blood being given to him, he would go immediately. Bob says: “I didn’t hesitate for a second, and I wasn’t worried about what might happen.”
