“It is not within our power to understand the Almighty” (JOB 37:23).
1. What ability did Jehovah give us, and why?
Jehovah gave us the ability to think, to learn, and to understand how to apply what we learn. Why? Because he wants us to find “the knowledge of God” and use our reasoning ability to make good decisions in serving him.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Jehovah didn't create us as pre-programmed robots, but rather gave us the ability to reason. Proverbs 2:1-4 speaks of discernment, as he hasn't given us a specific standard for every situation in life. What we must do is get to know Jehovah so we can make our own decisions, always in harmony with his will.
In Proverbs 2:1-4, we are urged to strive not only to receive and treasure, but also to keep seeking. And to earnestly seek Jehovah's wisdom, we need a receptive heart that motivates us to eagerly learn from Jehovah.
In Romans 12:1, we are told to render Jehovah sacred service with our ability to reason. This means we must do so in a logical, rational, and even intelligent manner. Therefore, we must know how to analyze the biblical principles involved in each decision and see how they apply to our lives. And if we do so, Jehovah will undoubtedly bless our decisions.
2. a) What should we recognize? (Job 37:23, 24; see also the image.)
Job was helped to correct his perspective and understand that he needed to be humble when Jehovah asked him a series of questions that showed there was much he didn't know. We too must be humble and recognize that, although Jehovah has given us the ability to learn, we don't know everything.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
We must recognize that although Jehovah created us with the capacity to learn, we do not know everything.
This helps us to be humble, because we have the example of Job in the Bible, who, in one of his most difficult moments, admitted in Job 42:3-6 that he spoke without understanding what he was saying. So being aware of this motivates us to maintain a humble attitude.
Believing we know more than we actually do is detrimental to us, because Job 37:24 says that Jehovah does not favor anyone who thinks he is wise. This teaches us to maintain a humble attitude toward our knowledge.
Humility will help us recognize what Proverbs 2:6 says, that Jehovah is the giver of wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and discernment. He is the one who gives us all the wisdom and understanding we can possibly have.
Recognizing that we don't know everything gives us peace of mind, because it helps us understand that Jehovah will let us know what we truly need to know. This will prevent us from wondering why certain things happen, since we will never know.
Although Jehovah loved Job very much, he very frankly told him that he didn't know everything, that he was missing many details, and with that image he illustrates everything Jehovah had to teach Job so that he would come down to earth and make good decisions.
2. b) How does it benefit us to be modest and recognize that we do not know everything?
It benefits us because modesty helps us to be humble, to correct our way of thinking, and to trust that Jehovah will reveal to us what we really need to know to make good decisions.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
It benefits us because we understand that only with Jehovah's help can we have this knowledge and understanding. Furthermore, we humbly trust that Jehovah will reveal to us exactly what we truly need to know, so that we can make good decisions in our lives.
The Bible tells us that it is Jehovah who gives this wisdom, and we must understand that, as the source of wisdom, He has the right to choose what He tells us and what He doesn't. But how loving it is that, knowing our limitations, He reveals to us what we truly need to know so we can worship Him and be humble.
ILLUSTRATION
Rays of light emerge from the clouds and illuminate Job as Jehovah speaks to him. Elihu and the three false friends are nearby, watching.
Like Job, we too benefit from accepting that there are things we don't know. (See paragraph 2.)
3. What will we analyze in this article?
In this article, we'll explore some of the things we don't know and why that can sometimes be a challenge, as well as why, in the end, it's a good thing not to know certain things. The lessons we learn will help us trust Jehovah more fully to tell us what we truly need to know, for He is "perfect in knowledge."
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
We'll explore some of the things we don't know and how that can sometimes be a challenge; but, deep down, it's a good thing we don't know certain things.
We will analyze why we must learn to trust more in Jehovah, who is perfect in knowledge and who will tell us what we really need to know.
WE DON'T KNOW WHEN THE END WILL COME
4. According to Matthew 24:36, what don't we know?
We don't know when the end of this system will come. Not even Jesus, while on Earth, knew "the day and the hour." Only Jehovah, who is the Lord of Time, has the authority to decide when these things will happen, and that date is already set by Him, but we cannot know it.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
We don't know when the end of this system will come, because Jesus himself said that no one knew, not even the angels in heaven, nor he himself when he was on earth.
What we do know is that Jehovah has already marked that date on his calendar, so to speak, and that we will never know it.
The note in the paragraph shows us that, although it's true that Jesus didn't know that date when he was here on earth, he does now, because he likely plays a part in the war that Jehovah is going to wage to eliminate the affairs of the earth. That's something we don't have to know, but Jehovah and Jesus Christ do.
5. How can not knowing exactly when the end will come affect us?
Not knowing the exact date of the end can make us feel impatient or discouraged, especially if we have been serving Jehovah for many years. It can also be difficult to endure ridicule from family members or others because the end has not yet arrived. We might even think that if we knew “the exact date,” it would be easier to be patient and withstand ridicule.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Waiting for the end to come can make us impatient, especially if we've been serving Jehovah for many years. Also, as 2 Peter 3:3 says, we'll have to endure people's mockery, and this will likely become more difficult for us.
Second Peter 3:4 says there will be scoffers who will say, “Where is this promised presence of him?” because everything has been the same since the beginning of time. These are words we sometimes hear when we preach, even from our own family members. But the reality is that when we hear these things and remember that Jehovah always keeps his promises, our faith is strengthened.
We might even think that if we knew the exact date, we'd find it easier to be patient and put up with that kind of teasing. But now let's analyze why it's a good thing we don't know.
6. Why is it good that we don't know the date of the end?
Because it gives us the opportunity to demonstrate that we serve Jehovah out of love and trust, not just because we know when the end will come. In this way, we show that our service doesn't have an "expiration date," but that we desire to serve Him forever. Furthermore, instead of focusing on when the "day of Jehovah" will come, we focus on what it will accomplish, which motivates us to draw closer to Him and strive to please Him.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Because it is a way for Jehovah to give us the opportunity to show that we serve Him because we love Him and trust Him, and not just for a specific day.
The words of 2 Peter 3:11-12 are very practical, as they command us to perform holy acts of conduct and deeds of devotion to God while we wait. That is, no matter how long we have been waiting for Jehovah's day to arrive, it is made clear to us that we must continue to do our best to please God, follow His guidance, and maintain our friendship with Him.
The paragraph emphasizes the idea of not focusing on when it will come, but on what it will accomplish when that end arrives. We need to imagine what that end will be like, how there will no longer be problems like the ones we are seeing, and how Jehovah will accomplish all this. And this is what fills us with energy and faith to endure. This is the goal we must have so we don't dwell on things that discourage us.
It's good that we don't know the exact date of the end, because then our motivation doesn't depend on a calendar, but on our love and faithfulness to Jehovah. This helps us remain steadfast, vigilant, and with a genuine heart toward God.
This will allow us to focus on what we do know and enthusiastically participate in the work Jehovah has entrusted to us, which is preaching. In this way, we can demonstrate that we serve God out of love and trust, not out of convenience.
2 Peter 3:11, 12, speaking specifically of the day of the Lord, says we need to think about the kind of people we should be and not wait passively, because verse 11 says we should perform holy acts of conduct and deeds of devotion to God. So it's not a question of passive waiting, but of an active attitude.
7. What do we know?
We know that, since 1914, we have been living in the last days. Jehovah has given us prophecies in the Bible that confirm this and show us what life will be like during this period. We also know with certainty that “the great day of Jehovah is near.” Furthermore, we know that Jehovah wants us to preach “the good news of the Kingdom” to as many people as possible, and currently this work is carried out in some 240 countries and in more than 1,000 languages. This motivates us to participate enthusiastically in this important work, even though we do not know “the day and the hour.”
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
One of the things we know is that we are currently living in the last days, because Jehovah is showing us this through the Bible. He has given us details of what things will be like in those last days, and so we are certain that that day is very near.
Thanks to the Bible, as we see in Matthew 24:14, we know that Jehovah wanted the good news of the Kingdom to be preached to as many people as possible in the last days. Just look at all the achievements being made, both in languages and territories covered, to know that this is happening.
What we do know is that we don't need to know the day and hour to be enthusiastic about serving Jehovah today.
We know there are a thousand languages, it's preached in 240 countries, and that's further proof that we're in the last days, because we're reaching the maximum number of people possible. So we must focus now on what we do know, not on what we don't know.
We know that something terrible was supposed to happen in 1914, and indeed something terrible did happen: the Great War, later known as World War I. Furthermore, Jehovah was expected to accelerate his work during this time, and he did so through technological advancement and other means.
We know that Jehovah, at this time, is moving thousands and thousands of brothers through his spirit to enthusiastically preach this work that must be done: preaching.
WE DON'T KNOW WHAT JEHOVAH CAN DO TO HELP US
8. What does the expression “the activity of the true God” refer to? (Ecclesiastes 11:5)
It refers to everything Jehovah does or allows to happen for the fulfillment of his will. The Bible shows us that knowing "the activity of the true God" is as impossible for us to understand as understanding the development of a baby in its mother's womb, something that even today scientists still do not fully understand.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
It refers to both his direct actions and what he allows in his sovereignty to accomplish his will. This activity is a mystery to us, as we don't always understand why he allows certain things to happen or how exactly he will act to help us.
It refers to everything Jehovah does or allows to happen so that his will may be fulfilled. As Ecclesiastes 11:5 says, we don't know for sure what Jehovah does or why he allows certain things to happen. It compares this to the fact that we don't know how a baby develops in its mother's womb, something that even scientists don't know. So, as mentioned there, we don't know how Jehovah acts.
Although we don't know why Jehovah allows certain things to happen, we do know what Psalm 37:5 says, which states that if we commit our way to Jehovah and trust in Him, He will always act on our behalf.
Just as we cannot fully understand how a baby develops in its mother's womb, but we do see the results, so too, although we cannot fully understand everything Jehovah does to accomplish his will, we do see the results, and that is what we should focus on.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
It refers to both his direct actions and what he allows in his sovereignty to accomplish his will. This activity is a mystery to us, as we don't always understand why he allows certain things to happen or how exactly he will act to help us.
9. What challenges might we face by not knowing what Jehovah will do to help us?
Not knowing what Jehovah will do to help us may lead us to various challenges, such as feeling hesitant when making important decisions—for example, simplifying our lives to do more preaching or moving to a place where more publishers are needed. We may also question whether Jehovah is happy with us when we face difficulties or fail to achieve our goals. As a result, we may question whether Jehovah is helping us.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
It can make us hesitant to make decisions that involve putting Jehovah first, such as simplifying our lives to dedicate more time to him or going to places where congregations need more support. And it's true that we may hesitate to do so because we don't know for sure how Jehovah will help us. But if we trust that He never abandons those who put Him first, we can make courageous decisions.
Things may not go as we expect, they may go wrong, or they may not be the results we expected, and then we begin to doubt. Perhaps we think, "Jehovah isn't happy with me, I'm not doing something right, or He's not helping me because we don't see that answer."
The paragraph mentions very positive goals, spiritual goals: preaching more, moving to a place where there is more need, some construction project; but even in those circumstances, sometimes things don't turn out the way we think or imagine. However, although we don't know how Jehovah will act or how He will move things forward so that everything related to serving Him will be successful, we must trust in Him.
It's important to keep striving with faith, because Jehovah values our loyalty more than results. Failing to achieve a spiritual goal doesn't mean Jehovah isn't happy with us. As with Job, we can be confident that He will help us and give us strength at the right time.
10. Since we do not know how Jehovah will act, what qualities can we develop?
By not knowing how Jehovah will act, we can develop qualities such as humility and modesty. We also learn to trust him completely, recognizing that his thoughts and ways are superior to our own. This leads us to give him credit when things go well and to feel reassured when we face difficulties, knowing that Jehovah is in control. We do what is in our hands and leave the rest in his hands, trusting that he will guide us as we need.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
We can demonstrate qualities such as humility and modesty. We must remember that Jehovah's thoughts and ways are above our own, as Isaiah 55:8 states. Therefore, we must fully trust that things will always turn out better if we rely on Jehovah.
Trusting in Jehovah is always good for us. If our plans, our preaching work, or some project or organization are going well, we have no doubt that it's all Jehovah's credit. But if, on the other hand, things don't go as we expected, it's a great comfort to know that Jehovah sees everything and has everything under control.
Being modest is important because it shows that we trust Jehovah to act in his way. We don't want to control what Jehovah does, but we know that he will help us if we rely on him.
Perhaps we might consider whether, by asking Jehovah for something or expecting him to give us something specific, we are showing that we think we know what's best for us. If we develop modesty, we will receive more blessings and won't be disappointed when things don't turn out as we expected.
Although we may not expect Jehovah to perform miracles like those he performed in the past to show us the way—as he sometimes did in the past—we are confident that he will give us the guidance we need.
We must do what is in our hands and let Jehovah do the rest. Acts 16:6-10 provides an example: Paul tried to preach wherever he could and put in a lot of effort, but sometimes Jehovah didn't want him to go there. Then Jehovah showed him where to go, and Paul let Jehovah's will guide him. So we must do the same: strive and wait for Jehovah to direct our steps.
Continuing with the example in Acts 16:6-10, how important it was for Paul and the others to be modest and humble! Thanks to these two qualities, they were able to accept the guidance the spirit was giving them. If they hadn't demonstrated these qualities, Jehovah's purpose would not have been fulfilled. So, how good it is for us to cultivate these qualities too! They will help us accept Jehovah's guidance along the path He has planned for us.
We can draw beautiful qualities from problems and uncertainty. We can learn to work in humility and also to trust in Jehovah no matter what. Therefore, this encourages us, when problems or difficulties arise, instead of becoming discouraged and disheartened, to use them as an impetus to become better Christians and trust Jehovah more.
When we've planned things well and, no matter how hard we try, they don't turn out the way we want, it's best to leave everything in Jehovah's hands. Otherwise, we'll never know that Jehovah is really helping us, because we never depend on Him.
11. What important things do we know?
We know that Jehovah is always loving, just, and wise; that he greatly values what we do for him and for our brothers and sisters; and that he always rewards those who are loyal to him.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
We know that Jehovah is a loving, just, and wise God, who greatly values what we do for Him and for our brothers and sisters. And, as Hebrews 11:6 indicates, He always rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
What we know is exactly what we need to serve Jehovah faithfully. We don't need to know what isn't in the Bible.
It's reassuring to know that Jehovah sees everything and has everything under control, and it's also reassuring to know that He is loving, just, and wise, and that He values everything greatly. So when things don't go as planned, we remain calm, waiting for Him to give us another idea.
WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN TOMORROW
12. According to James 4:13, 14, What do we not know?
We don't know what our lives will be like tomorrow, as unexpected events can happen to all of us. Therefore, we can't know if what we plan will work out or if we'll be alive to carry it out.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
What we don't know is what our lives will be like tomorrow, since unexpected events can happen to all of us, as Ecclesiastes 9:11 says. Therefore, we can't know whether what we plan will turn out well or not, or whether we'll be alive to carry it out.
13. Why can it be a challenge not knowing what will happen tomorrow?
Not knowing what will happen tomorrow can be a challenge because it can cause anxiety, make us lose our joy, cause pain or frustration when unexpected events occur, and lead to disappointment or discouragement if our expectations are not met.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Because by not knowing, we can create ideas or expectations of what will happen, and as Proverbs 13:12 says, if they come true, they are like a tree of life, but if not, they can make our hearts sick. That's why we must be careful about creating ideas about what will happen, because it's very easy for them to go unfulfilled and lead us to disappointment or discouragement.
Jehovah has given us imagination, with which we are able to create a scenario, place all our hope in it, work, find motivation, and pursue it. But if that final scenario doesn't come to pass, isn't real, or takes a long time to arrive, just as easily as we began, we can fall and become ill, even suffering from depression. Therefore, it is very important to give tomorrow the proper importance and trust in Jehovah's guidance.
The paragraph also talks about things that can happen, even if they're a tragedy or an unforeseen event. And when faced with this situation, we're filled with pain and frustration, and it's hard to move on.
14. What does true happiness depend on? (See also the images.)
True happiness doesn't depend on knowing every detail about our future, but on seeking Jehovah's guidance and obeying him. It consists of serving him with love, trusting him when making decisions, and remaining faithful even in the midst of difficulties. If we rely on Jehovah's guidance in making decisions, it would be like saying, "If Jehovah wills, we will stay alive and do this or that."
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
It depends on us seeking his guidance and obeying him with a whole heart, not expecting Jehovah to save us from every problem.
Jeremiah 10:23 says that it is not even up to man to direct his own steps. When we make decisions on our own, we can make mistakes; but if we follow the rules Jehovah gives us, we will be happy, because He has given them to us to be happy and for our well-being.
The paragraph tells us that our happiness must depend on Jehovah, because, after all, this world is constantly changing; even the people around us fail us. If we focus our happiness on another human being, we too will be devastated. Jehovah is there; he is our guide, our source of happiness, the one who truly gives meaning to our lives when we think about the wonderful future that awaits us.
By enduring our problems, difficulties, and everything that comes our way, we are showing our heavenly God that it is not out of selfishness, but out of love; and Jehovah realizes this. Nothing can make us happier than that.
What we must do, when we cannot direct our steps, is to trust and seek Jehovah's guidance: seek that guidance, obey him, and, as James says, say that if Jehovah wills, we will do this or that, because true happiness depends on trusting him and doing things his way.
ILLUSTRATION
Series of images: 1. A brother and his son packing a Bible and other items into their emergency backpack. 2. In an emergency, the brother, his wife, and their son take shelter from the rain under a tarp and use the items in the backpack.
What truly protects us is seeking Jehovah's guidance and obeying him. (See paragraphs 14 and 15.)
15. What do we know about the future?
We know that Jehovah has promised us eternal life, that he cannot lie, and that he will keep all his promises. We also know that he will give us wisdom, comfort, and strength to face any situation, and that nothing can stop him from loving us and fulfilling his purpose.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
What we do know is what Jehovah has promised us. He has promised us eternal life. We know that Jehovah cannot lie. He has always kept his promises, and, as we have studied before, Jehovah is the Lord of time and, therefore, he can predict the end. And all the things that have not yet been fulfilled, he will also fulfill.
As we know, all the things that have been foretold have been fulfilled, and those that are yet to come will also be fulfilled. Therefore, Jehovah will give us the wisdom, comfort, and strength we need to endure whatever may come. We must be positive, trust, and wait on Him.
As the paragraph says, Jehovah's love is not like human love, which is sometimes present and sometimes absent. In Romans 8:35-39, we are assured that nothing, no creation, can separate us from Jehovah's love. And as verse 38 says, we are convinced of this, based on all we have discussed. This truly is a great help in being able to endure everything we have to endure in this system.
WE CAN'T FULLY UNDERSTAND HOW WELL JEHOVAH KNOWS US
16. Though it may seem astonishing to us, what does Jehovah know about us? (Psalm 139:1-6)
Although it may seem surprising to us, Jehovah knows everything about us. He knows how we are made physically, emotionally, and mentally. He knows what we say, what we think, what we do, and why we do it. He is always watching over us, and we are never out of his reach. As Psalm 139:6 says, this knowledge is so profound it surpasses our understanding.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
He knows absolutely everything. For example, it's said that He perceives our thoughts, meaning He knows exactly how we feel, what worries us, and the decisions we're going to make. He knows everything about us, even what we think, even though no one around us does.
We can say that Jehovah protects us like a watchman, but not one who is waiting for us to fail, but rather a watchman like a lifeguard at a pool, who is attentive so that we don't drown. That is, he extends his hand to help us.
Psalm 139:4 poetically states, "Not a word has yet reached my tongue, but you, O Jehovah, know it well." Perhaps there is a thought that troubles us, makes us feel bad, and we don't even know why we feel that way, but Jehovah already knows, even the things we can't put into words.
We know that sometimes when we're sick, the lack of a diagnosis or not really knowing what's wrong can also hurt us, but Jehovah knows what's happening to us; he even knows us better than we know ourselves.
17. Why might we find it difficult to accept that Jehovah knows us so well?
We may struggle to accept that Jehovah knows us so well because of our upbringing, culture, or past beliefs. Guilt over past mistakes can also play a role, making us think Jehovah is distant or doesn't want a relationship with us. Furthermore, when someone strives to change their life to please God but struggles with something that feels natural, they may doubt that Jehovah truly understands them.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Sometimes it may be because of our upbringing or the culture in which we grew up that makes it difficult for us to see Jehovah as a loving father who loves us, cares for us, and cares for us. And sometimes it may be because someone has made a mistake in the past and feels that Jehovah doesn't like them, doesn't want them near Him, and sees them as distant.
Perhaps, because of our experiences leading up to meeting Jehovah, we have done things that today lead us to ask ourselves: Why does God ask me to reject something that is so natural to me? And then we can ask ourselves if Jehovah truly understands us.
We are not alone. We have the example of King David, for example, in Psalm 38:12, where he mentions that he did not want Jehovah to abandon him or be far from him.
18. Why is it good to accept that Jehovah knows us better than we know ourselves? (See also the pictures.)
It's good to accept that Jehovah knows us better than we know ourselves. He sees both our strengths and weaknesses, understands our emotions and motives, and loves us regardless. Knowing that Jehovah knows the kind of person we can become gives us the confidence to serve him faithfully and joyfully. Furthermore, even if there are many things we don't understand, having the promise of a wonderful future helps us endure difficulties.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Because sometimes we are harder on ourselves than Jehovah is. Sometimes, the life we've had and the situations we've faced have perhaps hardened us; but, as the paragraph says, Jehovah knows the kind of person we can become.
As Romans 7:15 says, we may not understand our behavior because we continue to do what we hate, but it's heartening to think that Jehovah, despite seeing our flaws, understands why we feel that way and, despite everything, still loves us. So He doesn't focus on what we are now, but rather on the positive image of us and what we can become.
In the image, we see a brother whose imperfect heart may deceive him and make him feel worthless or discouraged. But what does he do? He imagines the new world. Jehovah truly knows what we will be like in a thousand years, when we are perfect, and He also helps him imagine that future where there will be no problems. So what we have to do is trust in Jehovah and see ourselves as He sees us.
It's true that we sometimes think we're less than we really are, but we have to consider the world we live in. Satan's strategy is to make us think we're worthless and how can we serve Jehovah? Therefore, we must meditate on this idea.
Sometimes when we judge ourselves, we think we know what we feel, what we think, our fears, and our guilt—and we think we know them well. But what the Bible says is that Jehovah knows more about us than we do about ourselves. So, we need to be modest and say, "When I feel bad, I'll let Jehovah judge me."
ILLUSTRATION
Series of images: 1. On a dark, rainy day, a brother looks out a window with a dejected expression. 2. In Paradise, the brother walks along a mountain enjoying the beautiful scenery with some friends.
Although there are many things we don't know in this life, we do know that Jehovah has promised us a wonderful future, and that helps us endure troubles. (See paragraphs 18 and 19.)
19. What do we know about Jehovah?
We know that Jehovah is love and that his righteous standards reflect that love, always wanting the best for us. We also know that he desires for us to live forever, and that is why he gave the ransom so that we may please him despite our imperfections. Furthermore, we know that Jehovah knows us completely and trusts that we are capable of doing his will.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
First John 4:8 says that whoever does not love has not come to know God, for God is love. This clearly tells us that God is like a loving father who wants the best for us. That's why he cares for us, protects us, and even offered a ransom so we could have eternal life.
In 1 John 3:20 it says that even if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows everything about us, including what we can become in our future potential.
20. What will help us not to worry unnecessarily?
Modestly accepting that Jehovah gives us all the information we need will help us avoid worrying unnecessarily about what we don't know and focus on what is important, thus demonstrating our complete trust in Him.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
One quality that is indispensable is modesty, because it will make us recognize our limitations, that we do not know everything, and that we trust in Jehovah so that He will inform us of the things we need to know in His time.
If Jehovah hasn't told us more, it's because we don't really need them. He knows what we need to be happy.
Although there are many things we don't know, what we do know is that we will have a future in which we will never stop learning about our God, Jehovah, and it will be forever.
If we trust in Jehovah and submit to his guidance, as Proverbs 3:23 says, we will find security and comfort, knowing that Jehovah always understands our problems and is willing to help us.
The text of Ecclesiastes 3:11 also tells us that although Jehovah has planted in our hearts the desire to live forever, it also mentions that we will never fully understand Jehovah's work. So, no matter how long we live, we will never stop learning about Jehovah. We already have enough with what he has told us, so let's work for it.
WHAT WOULD YOU ANSWER?
Why is it good not knowing when the end will come?
Because by not knowing the exact date, we have the opportunity to demonstrate that we serve Jehovah out of love, not self-interest. This helps us maintain genuine faith and focus on pleasing Him and striving to do His will, without setting a date for our loyalty.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
It keeps us in constant expectation, shows what is in our hearts, helps us to be constant, protects us from discouragement and, in short, Jehovah, in his wisdom, decided that we do not know the exact moment so that we live each day as if it were the last of this system, keeping us active and demonstrating the truth of what we feel for Him.
Yes, instead of thinking about when Jehovah's day will come, let's think about what it will accomplish; then we'll be closer to Jehovah and use this time to please him.
Since we don't know the exact date, we have the opportunity to show that we serve Jehovah out of love and not self-interest.
Why don't we need to know what will happen tomorrow to be happy?
Because true happiness depends on seeking Jehovah's guidance, obeying him, and trusting him, not on knowing every detail of the future. Trusting in Jehovah gives us peace and helps us remain faithful even in the midst of difficulties or uncertainties.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Because true happiness lies in following and obeying Jehovah's guidance, not knowing every detail of the future. When we seek and follow Jehovah's guidance, we will make good decisions that will bring us happiness.
Why is it good to accept that Jehovah knows us better than we know ourselves?
Because Jehovah sees both our strengths and our weaknesses and understands why we act the way we do. Knowing that He knows and loves us gives us the confidence to serve Him faithfully and joyfully, knowing that He understands our imperfect nature and our struggles.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
We may sometimes underestimate ourselves. But knowing that Jehovah fully understands the kind of people we can become helps us greatly and gives us the confidence we need to serve him with joy and steadfastness.
We know that Jehovah knows our thoughts and even our embryo, as the Bible says, and He also knows the child in the mother's womb. So, if He knows us so perfectly, much better than we do, what we have to do is put our trust in Him.
We know that Jehovah will help us with everything we need in this life: today, tomorrow, and whatever comes next. He will give those who have died a resurrection, and we will have the hope of seeing them again.
