APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, August 11-17, 2025, Start Conversations: FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. (Making Disciples: A Work of Love, Lesson 1, point 5). Prepared Assignment.

Start conversations (3 mins.) FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. Use a conversation starter (lmd lesson 1 point 5).

Setting: The publisher is engaged in door-to-door preaching. Upon knocking on a door, a woman answers. The publisher uses a tract to initiate a conversation and, applying listening skills, allows the person to express themselves, showing empathy and taking advantage of the opportunity to use the Bible.

Publisher: Good morning, my name is [name]. I'm visiting our neighbors today to deliver this tract. I didn't want to overlook your home. Look at this interesting question: Who really controls the world? And it gives three possible answers: God, humans, or some unknown force. What do you think, ma'am?

Assistant: It's clearly not God. The world is in total chaos. My husband was beaten and robbed, my mother is sick, and the news only shows evil: robberies, murders, people hurting each other. It's very sad; I don't believe God is behind this.

Publisher: How unfortunate what happened to your husband and mother. And how are they doing?

Assistant: Thank God, they are getting better.

Publisher: I'm glad to hear that. And you're right: we're living in very difficult times. What you say is true: God is not to blame for so much suffering. Look, on the next page of the tract, there's a Bible passage that answers that question. Would you like to read it? It's 1 John 5:19. (He hands her his cell phone.)

Assistant: (Read) “We know that we come from God, but the whole world is under the power of the evil one.”

Publisher: Thanks for reading. According to this text, who controls the world?

Assistant: The Bible says it clearly: the world is dominated by evil. That explains this whole situation.

Publisher: Exactly! You understood perfectly. I'm very glad you understood quickly. I'm going to leave this treatise with you so you can read it carefully.

Assistant: Yes, it is very interesting.

Publisher: Look, here at the end there is another question.

Assistant: (Read) “What will the world be like when Satan no longer controls it?”

Publisher: Would you like to spend another day reading what the Bible tells us the world will be like when Satan no longer controls it?

Assistant: Yes, I'm interested. Can you come Saturday morning?

Publisher: Perfect! I'll be here on Saturday. Thanks for chatting. Take care.

Assistant: Thanks, [name]. See you.
