Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2025
Thursday, July 31, 2025
Keep making sure of what pleases the Lord (Eph. 5:10).
When we have to make important decisions, we should find out “what is Jehovah’s will” and then do it (Eph. 5:17). When we try to find biblical principles that apply to our situation, what we are really doing is trying to find out what Jehovah thinks about the matter. By putting these principles into practice, we will be able to make good decisions.
The “evil one,” Satan, would like to see us so busy with the things of the world that we have no time to serve God. (1 John 5:19) It can be all too easy to focus on money, education, or work instead of looking for ways to serve Jehovah. If that happens to us, it would be a sign that the world’s way of thinking is infecting us.
Of course, these things aren't bad in and of themselves, but they should never be the first priority in our lives. To continue "walking as children of the light," we must "make the best use of our time," that is, focusing on the things that are truly important. w24.03 24 pars. 16, 17.
What steps did Donald take to make good use of his time?
Let us look for opportunities to increase our service to Jehovah. That's what Donald, who lives in South Africa, did. He says: “I analyzed my circumstances and begged Jehovah to help me do more in the ministry. I asked Him to allow me to find a job that would give me more time to preach. And, with Jehovah's help, I found one. Then my wife and I began full-time service.”
What should we do to continue “walking as children of the light”?
Surely the letter Paul wrote to the Ephesians, inspired by them, helped them to be faithful to Jehovah, and it can help us too. As we have seen, it helps us choose our entertainment and our friendships wisely. It also motivates us to be good Bible students and thus allow the light of truth to guide us. Furthermore, it reminds us of the importance of the Holy Spirit, which helps us cultivate good qualities. If we follow Paul's advice, we will be able to make decisions that make Jehovah happy. By doing all this, we will be able to avoid the darkness of this world and remain in the light.
