The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ (Rev. 11:15).

Do you find it hard to be optimistic when you look at the state of the world today? Many families no longer have the love they once had. People are becoming increasingly violent, selfish, and aggressive in general. And many people find it hard to trust those in authority. But in reality, all of this allows us to look to the future with confidence. Why? Because people are behaving exactly as described in 2 Timothy 3:1-5, which contains a remarkable prophecy about “the last days.” No good-hearted person can deny that this prophecy is being fulfilled. Its fulfillment shows us that Jesus Christ is already King of God’s Kingdom. But there are more prophecies about this Kingdom. All of these prophecies fit together like pieces of a puzzle and allow us to clearly see where we are in Jehovah’s timetable. w22.07 2 §1, 2.

HOW DO WE KNOW WHEN THE KINGDOM WAS ESTABLISHED?

What does the prophecy of Daniel 7:13, 14 confirm for us about the King of the Kingdom of God?

In Daniel 7:13, 14 we find a prophecy that confirms that Jesus Christ would be the ideal person to be the King of God's Kingdom. It says that people from all nations would gladly serve him and that no other ruler would take his place. And when would Jesus begin to rule? According to another prophecy in the book of Daniel, this would occur at the end of a prophetic period of seven times. Let's see how we can know when this happy event took place.

How does Daniel 4:10–17 help us know what year Jesus would begin to rule? (See also footnote.)

(Read Daniel 4:10-17.) The “seven times” represent 2,520 years. That period began in 607 B.C.E., when the Babylonians removed the last king from Jehovah’s throne in Jerusalem. That period ended in 1914, when Jehovah made Jesus, “the one who has the legal right,” King of God’s Kingdom. —Ezek. 21:25-27.

What is one of the benefits of understanding the “seven times” prophecy?

How does this prophecy help us? Understanding the prophecy of the “seven times” gives us the assurance that Jehovah keeps his promises punctually. He set the time when he would establish the Kingdom. And when that time came, he did so. Likewise, Jehovah will fulfill all other prophecies at the time he himself has determined. So Jehovah’s day “will not be late.”—Hab. 2:3.

What evidence do we see on Earth that Christ is ruling in heaven, and how does the prophecy of Revelation 6:2-8 support that evidence?

As Jesus neared the end of his ministry on Earth, he predicted certain world events that would help his disciples know that he had begun to rule in heaven. For example, he spoke of wars, famines, and earthquakes. He also said there would be epidemics “in one place after another,” such as the COVID-19 pandemic. All of these events are part of what the Bible calls the “sign” of Christ’s presence (Matt. 24:3, 7; Luke 21:7, 10, 11). And more than 60 years after his death and return to heaven, Jesus confirmed to the apostle John that these things would happen (read Revelation 6:2–8). All of these events have occurred since Jesus became King of the Kingdom in 1914.
