Pray constantly. Give thanks in all circumstances. This is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thess. 5:17, 18).
In addition to praising Jehovah, we want to thank him in our prayers for all the wonderful things he has given us, such as the brilliant colors of the flowers, the endless variety of delicious foods, and the pleasant company of good friends. All of this and much more is given to us by our loving Father simply because he wants us to be happy. (Ps. 104:12-15, 24) Above all, we thank him for the vast amount of spiritual food he gives us and for the precious hope we have. It is so easy to forget to thank Jehovah for all he does for us. How can we avoid this? We could write down the things we have asked for and review the list from time to time to see how Jehovah has answered us. Then we can pray to him in gratitude for his help. LET US THANK JEHOVAH FOR HIS BELOVED SONWhy should we thank Jehovah for sending Jesus to Earth? (1 Peter 2:21)
(Read 1 Peter 2:21.) We should be grateful that Jehovah sent his beloved Son to teach us. By studying the life of Jesus, we learn much about Jehovah and what we need to do to please him. By showing faith in Christ’s sacrifice, we can enjoy a close friendship and peace with Jehovah. —Rom. 5:1.
Why do we pray in the name of Jesus?
We thank Jehovah that we can pray to him through his Son. Jehovah uses Jesus to give us what we ask for. When we pray in the name of his Son, Jehovah hears and answers us. Jesus explained: “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified through the Son.”—John 14:13, 14.
What other reason do we have to thank Jehovah for his Son?
Jehovah forgives our sins because of Jesus’ sacrifice. The Bible says that Jesus is our “high priest” and that he is “seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens.” (Heb. 8:1) It also says that “we have a helper who is with the Father, Jesus Christ.” (1 John 2:1) We are so thankful that Jehovah has given us a High Priest who has compassion for us, understands our limitations, and “prays for us.” (Rom. 8:34; Heb. 4:15) If it were not for Jesus’ sacrifice, we who are imperfect would not be able to pray to Jehovah. Words cannot express how much we appreciate Jehovah’s precious gift to us—his beloved Son.Books of Jehovah
How did Jesus show that he loved his disciples the night before he died?
The night before He died, Jesus prayed long and hard for His disciples, asking His Father to protect them from the Evil One (John 17:15). What a great gesture of love! Even though He was about to go through a terrible trial, He cared about the well-being of His apostles.
