TREASURES FROM GOD'S WORD: November 25-December 1, 2024, Let's Support Our King, Jesus. Prepared Speech.
Let us support our King, Jesus (10 mins.)
We have always been told that we should imitate the model, the example of Jesus. But we almost always think of imitating him in his preaching or in his way of teaching. But have you ever thought, if Jesus attended your congregation, what would he do there?
You can't think, he would be giving speeches all the time because he is the great teacher, but when one reviews the history of the Bible, Jesus did not spend time teaching in the synagogues, nor did he spend time giving speeches or always teaching so many things verbally to his disciples.
Many things he taught were by his example in action, sometimes without saying much. In fact, when he attended the synagogue, he was usually sitting listening to other human teachers. Can you imagine the great teacher sitting listening to other human teachers? And when he could, he participated by reading from the scrolls of the scriptures, commenting, he did not always teach. That's what we're going to review now in this section of Bible Treasures: Let's support our king, Jesus. How do we do it? By imitating his example. Jesus taught us that for everything there is a time. While he was here on earth, he knew very well, according to Bible prophecies, that he didn't have much time to do things here.
That life when the Messiah had to be killed, therefore, his days were numbered. Once he fulfilled his role here on earth, he ascended to the heavens. What did he do? Was he very active? Psalm 110 and verse 1 tells us.
LET'S READ PSALM 110:1.
The Lord declared to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a stool for your feet.”
After being resurrected, he sat at the right hand of God. Was he going to rest from all that he had done on earth? No, he had to wait, yes, until 1914 for his enemies to be under his feet. But that did not mean that Jesus was going to rest, he has always remained active.
During that time, from the time he ascended to heaven until 1914, he exercised authority over the Anointed Christians who remained on earth, over his Apostles, and over all who joined later.
In the book of Acts, Jesus mentioned to them, before ascending to heaven, that He now had all authority, both in heaven and also on Earth, and that authority He exercised from the time He ascended to heaven and onward, directing the work of preaching, organizing the congregation at that time, giving instructions, etc. And when the time came, what was said in Psalm 110:2 was now fulfilled.
LET'S READ PSALM 110:2
From Zion, the Lord will extend the scepter of your power, saying: “Go and rule in the midst of your enemies.”Books of Jehovah
When the time came, Jehovah enthroned Jesus as king. This happened in 1914. Shortly thereafter, Jesus began to use his power, and the first thing he did was to cast Satan out of heaven along with his heavenly supporters. What was said in Psalm 110:1-2 was fulfilled; Jesus began to rule in the midst of his enemies.
How beautiful it is to know that Jesus is now the king since 1914. What we want to do now is: How can we support our king? How can we show that we follow his example in the congregation? Here comes the point of Psalm 110 verse 3, which says:
LET'S READ PSALM 110:3.
Your people will offer themselves willingly on the day you lead your military forces. In splendid holiness, from the dawn, you have a battalion of young men, like drops of dew.
It is beautiful to see that the young people in the congregation are willing to help, as the text says, voluntarily, to be able to support our King Jesus. In our activity guide, the question appears, What goals can I set to show that I support the Kingdom? That is where what we said at the beginning of this speech comes in: following the example of Jesus if he were in our congregation.
Jesus' goal was always to help others, to make himself available to others. Sometimes they even helped to take care of the children for a moment, like when so many of them came up to him and he hugged him, caressed them. It must have been a very beautiful thing for Jesus to feel that he could touch two human children and thus be able to show them how much he loved both the children and their parents.
There are so many things a young person could do within the congregation to show that he or she imitates the example of Jesus and supports our King. Let’s review some ideas of what a young person in the congregation can do.
Here we have the images from our activities guide, the first scene, a young man helping to pass the microphone during the meeting, in the comments our brothers participate, perhaps you might think that it is something insignificant to be passing the microphone, but how important is that, if there was no sound in a Kingdom Hall and this is large
How many brothers would miss the information of the points that a brother or sister is making through their commentary? Points that we may have missed while preparing the Watchtower magazine or any part of the meeting, but when they say them and we listen to them, we catch that point that we missed and thanks to the work of this young man the congregation can benefit and we see the attention that he also pays while this sister is participating. That is what Jesus would do, of course he wanted to serve others, he wanted to help so that others understand the truth of his father.
We see the other scene, the young man now helping an older sister. How much good this sister does to get to the Kingdom Hall or participate in the Ministry, thanks to the help of this young brother, if she did not have that help she would miss out on many things that Jehovah gives to his servants, that is what Jesus would do, Jesus was always willing to help sick people and those people were sometimes the most grateful, those who wanted to do more for Jesus, to be his disciples, after having been cured of their illness.
Let's look at the following scene: this young brother is preparing well for the meeting, he is doing a good Bible study, he is learning more about how Jehovah thinks and how to imitate Jesus' example. At the Regional Assembly we saw videos that showed how Jesus, when he attended the synagogue, was attentive to what other teachers said when Jesus was little and he also did it when he was older. All these things are a good preparation so that when this young man becomes a ministerial servant or even an elder, he can use his biblical knowledge, his understanding of the truth to encourage other brothers.Books of Jehovah
And the last scene, this same young brother is receiving information, preparation from another brother who has more experience, possibly from an elder, on how to carry out his assigned work within the congregation. Jesus received preparation from his imperfect human father and mother, from others who undoubtedly contributed to reminding them of things from the scriptures and he absolved all of that and then put it into practice.
What a great way to imitate the example of Jesus if he were in our congregation. Both young and old have this beautiful opportunity to continue showing our support for our great King Jesus, by imitating his example in each of our congregations.
