TREASURES OF THE BIBLE, June 5-11, 2023, "Being together does us a lot of good", Prepared Speech.
“Being together does us a lot of good” (10 min.)
Did you know that our body's immune system is strengthened by physical contact with people or objects we love. It's an impressive system, but this is all about emotions and there are so many things that can be improved just by physical contact.
We can speak in the case of a child, a newborn when he has health problems and needs to be cared for, who gets in touch with the parents, both dad and mom, so that he can feel that warmth, feel that sensation that will help him recover your health.
And it is that Jehovah has created us with that feeling of having company. That was the reason why, after living for a while, Adam only gave him Eve as a companion. That is why the Bible says that "two are better than one", they can also work very well, and the Lord Jesus Christ himself once said: "Where two or three are gathered in my name will be the Holy Spirit".
The company is essential to strengthen our physical and spiritual health. And that is exactly what we are going to talk about in this section of treasures of the Bible with the theme: "Being together does us very good" and what a good theme that is related to our regional assemblies that began a short time ago and that are causing an exceptional sensation in our physical and spiritual state of mind.
And it is that throughout history, Jehovah has always known that if all his servants gather to worship him, we will all benefit. This is what happened in the dry season, as we have been reviewing these weeks. Unfortunately, his father Ahaz was not a good example, what is more, he promoted the false duration to the point that he closed the temple of God and allowed it to be destroyed little by little. bit.
How different was Hezekiah, when at the age of 25 he became king, the first thing he did was to reopen the temple, repair it, gather the priests and the Levites and start preparing for the Passover after a long time. And not just for a small group of servants of God. Let's see here in 2 Chronicles 30: 1 if he found it please accompany me with the reading It says like this:
WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 30:1.
Hezekiah sent messengers to all Israel and Judah, and even wrote letters to those from Ephraim and Manasseh, so that they would come to the house of Jehovah in Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover to Jehovah, the God of Israel.
It is of interest according to this biblical text that Hezekiah not only wanted those of Judah and Benjamin to be the only ones favored to be on this Passover, on this very special occasion. He took it upon himself to send mail to the entire country including the other Northern kingdom, everywhere from south to north how he describes it, from Ephraim and Manasseh and from east to west. He wanted all the Israelites who were still loyal to Jehovah to come to this place that was the center of God's worship.
However, doing so was not easy. Because idolatry had become so widespread that the vast majority of the Israelites were not doing things as Jehovah required. So when these emails were sent or these people carrying this message, it was not pleasant at all, and what's more, they were very embarrassed. If we now see 2 Chronicles 30:10,11. the reaction of the people when they were receiving this invitation.
WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 30:10,11.
So the messengers went from city to city throughout the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and even as far as Zebulun, but the people laughed and made fun of them. However, some people from Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.
Therefore, those who decided to attend this beautiful invitation did not find it easy. They made fun of them, they treated them badly, they had to travel alone until they reached Judah, but many did. However, they could not celebrate it on the day that had to be the Passover of the 14th of Nissan. If we see now in 2 Chronicles 30:13 there it mentions the following:
WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 30:13.
A crowd gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the second month. It was a very large congregation.
Why was it that they couldn't celebrate Nissan's 14th? The reason is because the filth of the town had spread so much that, as was logical, they should be in the appropriate conditions to celebrate it. We must also remember that the temple was closed, destroyed, it needed urgent repair so that everything is ready so that they can celebrate Easter.
So they did it as soon as possible so that according to the law of Moses, it said that a month later the Passover could be celebrated for those who were unclean, and Hezekiah made use of that law, to make everyone be in the precise conditions to celebrate Easter.
Don't you think that all this has a lot to do with what happened to us until a short time ago? having to meet in a dispersed way from our homes due to the problem of Covid-19. We all wanted to be together again, at first it was quite difficult to do that, what's more, we celebrated our first Commemoration online and that was a bit strange, that everyone in their house has their parts of the commemoration emblems, but it was important is that we were able to be present.
And then everything was flowing too. But it was not enough, we did not have that physical contact with our brothers. We were not keeping our spiritual immune systems strong. Perhaps some of us liked to do this activity, others didn't, or preach in a different way, and that. Perhaps it cost us a bit, some of us were not very skilled, but many became experts in it.
However, we needed physical contact. That is why when already this year we were told that we could return to the kingdom hall with due precautions, it was a unique feeling. We needed to see each other face to face, touch each other and be able to feel that love.
And this has increased our activity, our desire to serve Jehovah, and that is also what happened in the kingdom of Judah. If we now look at 2 Chronicles 30:25-31:1. Let's see the good effect of meeting all these loyal servants of Jehovah.
WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 30:25.
And all the congregation of Judah, the priests, the Levites, all the congregation that came from Israel and the foreign residents that came from the land of Israel and those who lived in Judah were very joyful. Joy reigned in Jerusalem, because since the days of Solomon son of David, the King of Israel, nothing like this had happened in Jerusalem.
Finally the Levite priests stood up and blessed the people, and God heard their voice, and their prayer reached their holy home, heaven.
WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 31:1.
When all this was finished, all the Israelites who were present went out to the city of Judah and smashed the holy pillars, tore down the holy poles, and demolished the high places and altars throughout Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they were completely wiped out. after that, all the Israelites returned to their cities, each to his property.
Do we see the good effect that meeting had? Happy but also now a very high spiritual immune system, to the point that they went to destroy everything that was related to idolatry. That is what being together produces, it does us a lot of well-being in our meetings in the kingdom hall and now in the regional assemblies.
If we look at the photograph we have of this hug, of this pair of sisters. We don't need to see her mouth to see the smile, we just need to see that expression of that hug that clearly shows that they needed that, to be together so that they are spiritually very strong.
Jehovah knows that we need company, and spiritual company is something that strengthens us in our spiritual health, and that this will give us courage to face any opposition that comes and tear down all that is false that tarnishes the name of Jehovah.
